Can anyone recommend any vitamins I could buy to help with tiredness. I am 7 weeks pregnant. Due to return to work next week for 12 hour shifts. Just thought if I could take something to help me through I would feel happier about working.

Oh I’m sorry you’re in that exhausting stage of pregnancy! I am just 11 weeks now and I just about don’t feel so shattered every day anymore. No vitamins have helped me with it, it’s just hormonal and a tough stage to just push through.

My consultant recommended the Pregnacare ones and that’s what I’ve been taking in both this and my previous pregnancy. It is the most comprehensive and balanced one and it is also quite reasonably priced and available in quite a few shops. You might also want to check your iron level (ferritin blood test - your GP should be able to order it) and your Haemoglobin in case you need extra iron supplements. I would start those early if you need them! Iron drops a lot in pregnancy! But it is dangerous to take extra iron if you don’t have a deficiency, so good to check in advance.

OK thank you. I will definitely get checked out to see incase my iron levels have dropped. I am trying my best not to give to tiredness all the time but I know I need to rest when I can.

It’s hard! I try to focus on the fact that it is a positive pregnancy symptom and my body is pumping out all the right hormones. It’s not easy though! I can’t wait for the second trimester!

Yeah I agree I can't wait for the second trimester too. Thank you.

I recommend the Pregnacare vitamins, Boots usually have them on offer 3 for 2. Your midwife will take bloods at your booking in appointment and it’ll be tested for iron levels. Try and stay well hydrated, it can help with tiredness but will also mean more toilet breaks.
