Feeling Down and Morning Sickness

Hi everyone. I've not been on here in a while but I wanted to share some good news with you all. I'm 11 weeks and 4days today and I really didn't think we would ever make it this far. However, I've been having really bad morning sickness! It's been happening all day long with headaches and dizziness. I've spoken to the doctors and I've tried about 3 different types of medication but nothing really helps. Has anyone else experienced this? I really find it difficult to get out of bed most days as I'm feeling so rough. I feel so down and low when I should be excited! Best of luck to you all wherever you are in your journeys xxxx

Congratulations! I'm 13 +1 weeks and until recently I was feeling the way you did, it was an all day sickness - I didn't vomit though so was not at risk of dehydration. Last week I started to feel better and I hope this will happen to you too. My hospital said that as long as I could still eat anything the baby was not in any danger especially that at this stage it's very small and doesn't need much. The nurse said literally a bowl of cereal a day is enough.

But I felt awful and forced myself to eat most of the time. The things that actually helped me was going on walks outside, but obviously I couldn't do it all day. Watching sitcoms and listening to audio books was a good distraction especially at meal times. Sipping some tea provided a short comfort too. I also found stroking and talking to my tummy at the worst of times have helped.

I hope your medicines will start working or your symptoms will get better soon. Good luck with your pregnancy.

Thank you so much for your response. Congratulations to you too. My problem is I keep feeling so hungry and then vomiting it all out. I've tried to eat little and often and I'm really hoping that it'll pass soon. I haven't been able to get out much either due to the dizziness. Most of my days are spent in bed. I barely just about get up to eat. I'm glad to hear you're feeling better soon, I hope there's light for me at the end of the tunnel too. Best of luck with your pregnancy 🥰 xx

I'm 18 weeks now and it's my 2nd pregnancy. I had to have an early gestational test because I had it last time and I already had it at my 8 weeks test. I already had some morning sickness and I had to start taking Metformin which just made me even sicker, to help control my blood sugar. It has been a rough few months and only now this week have I been able to eat proper meals.

I have pretty much lived on ryvita crackers and cream cheese, because they're all I could stomach that didn't also spike my blood sugar.

My poor husband everytime he cooked I had to leave the room and get air because it made me feel so ill.

It's been really hard to enjoy the pregnancy because it's been all about the diabetes, I have to be really strict about what I eat, I have to go to the diabetes clinic every few weeks, test my blood four times a day and now I'm also injecting insulin at night too. I know it's all worth it for baby and me to be healthy as possible but it's hard to be full of baby joy, when you're feeling so rough, and you can't even eat something you love or crave, so I definitely feel your pain. I hope your morning sickness eases soon and that you can start to enjoy your pregnancy. It does normally start to improve as you get to your second trimester, until then it's just a case of self care and surviving xx

I'm so sorry to hear of the hard time you're going through, I really hope it gets easier for you. We have to go through a lot for our miracle babies!

I really hope it improves by the second trimester as it's so hard to deal with throughout the whole pregnancy! Best of luck to you with the rest of your pregnancy 🥰 xx

Congratulations. I was the exact same. Could not keep anything down at all. I got told to have a little bowl of cereal let it come back up and have another should work. I just found eating when I didn't feel sick and lay down straight after or lay down whilst eating. Also beige food such as chips dry toast was all I could manage. I ended up in hospital twice for my sickness and the fluids helped a lot but I had to go due to ketone in my urine. I'm 38+4 days now and not been sick for the last 5 weeks but occasionally felt sick. It will get better just eat what you can even if its a nibble. X

Thank you for your response. Looks like you've had a hard pregnancy right until the very end! I find lying down straight after eating makes me sick again! The dizziness makes it worse! I just hope it gets better soon 🤞. Best of luck with the remainder of your pregnancy, not long now xx

Hi lindt83, sorry to hear you’re struggling so much and it’s left you feeling down. I also suffered with sickness and was hospitalised so you have my sympathy. It will get better for you. I had to throw the rule book of healthy eating out the window and lived mostly on chicken nuggets and chips, as others had said beige food tends to help. I also felt very low at the start of my pregnancy, lockdown, sickness and a brief visit from my old friend anxiety had me feeling so guilty about not feeling all the gushing emotions I was expecting. I reached out and spoke to whoever I could and I tried really hard to go easy on myself. I am now 33 weeks and since around the 18th week I have loved every second of being pregnant and all the bad feelings and sickness have become a long forgotten memory. It is a shock to the system when you realise how tough the early stages can be but you can get through this! This is what we’re made for! I really hope you feel better soon and keep talking if you’re feeling down. We’re all here to help! Take care xx

Thank you for your response and your positivity. It's hard but I know you're right 🙂.

Sounds like you've had a rough time too, I'm glad you're starting to feel better now. You don't have too long to go now. I hope you enjoy the rest of your pregnancy and everything goes well for you 💗 xx
