First pregnancy - baby movements

Hi everyone!

Sorry to post something that must have been posted a million times before but just looking for some reassuring stories...

I am 18 weeks pregnant but haven’t yet felt baby move... I just wondered when others felt their first baby move? Had a reassurance scan last week and everything seemed ok, now just anxiously waiting the 20 week nhs scan. It is an ivf pregnancy so everyday is an anxious wait for the next day! My placenta is posterior so I should be able to feel the baby sooner than those with an anterior placenta

Thanks all xxx

Hello,

Congrats on the pregnancy.

Mine is an ivf one too, and the fear is real!

I could feel very light moments at about 18 weeks but they got much stronger week on week. I have three sisters though and none of them felt movement’s until 20-22 weeks and that is the more normal time frame.

It might be because i work from home sat at my computer in a very quiet room for like 8 hours a day, so focus on it a lot. Otherwise I suspect if you are busy or mostly distracted during the day you wont notice until the kicks are much more prominent at 20+ weeks. It does also depend on height and stomach muscles etc, every woman is different so please don’t worry you will definitely start to feel something very soon! Xxx

Hi, congrats on the pregnancy! Mine is a first time baby from IVF too and anxiety levels are high...

I also have a posteria placenta and started feeling movement a couple of weeks back, between 19 and 20 weeks, so you can probably expect to feel something pretty soon, although everyone is different obviously and I know some people feel it later. Mine started off just a few times a day and now is getting more regular (I'm at 21 weeks). I didn't really get any of the flutters/bubbles that people talk about though, first thing I felt were small thuds. It definitely helps with the anxiety once you start to feel something.

Good luck! X

With my first I didnt feel.any movements till 24 weeks, with my second it was weeks and with the third it was 20 weeks again. It is not unusual to not feel.rhem at 18 weeks , dont worry x

I’m pregnant with my 3rd I started feeling movement from 15w it’s ever so slight by 18w feeling a little more but not everyday I’m 22w now he’s super active but still some days less others it is common not to feel any or much before 20w don’t worry.

Try eating some chocolate then relax, lying on your left side in the evening. That seemed to be when mine was more active. Don't worry at this stage though, I felt very little until 20 weeks but it won't be long now before you start feeling bubba.

I’m pregnant with my first, I felt a couple of bubbles before 20 weeks but that’s all, if I was up and about I probably wouldn’t have even noticed it.

It wasn’t until the evening of my 20 week scan that I felt him move..... even the woman at the scan was shocked that I couldn’t feel him as she could when she was scanning me 🤣

It’s not unusual to not feel anything at this stage 😊 I hope you feel them soon
