Period - Post miscarriage

I miscarried just over 5 weeks ago and things seemed to go back to ‘normal’ quite quickly. (Negative pregnancy test and Ovulating about 13 days later - at a similar time to if the miscarriage had been a regular period)

I feel like I should have had my period by now. I took a test this morning just in case but that was negative.

The NHS says 4-6 weeks.

For those of you who’ve been in this situation was it nearer the 6 week mark?

The first period won’t have been a period it’s just a bleed- I had the same and spoke to my doctor. I didn’t have a proper period for about 3-4 months after my miscarriage. Then went back to normal straight after that xx

I miss carried 2nd of Aug and then my first period came on the 7th of September which was the worst period of my life! So heavy and unbearable bought about so much stored emotions from the miscarriage, I was always regular before the miscarriage so I had read it is all personal to you! So I suppose if your periods were or were not regular it should come about in a similar manner. Hope it helps x

It was around 3 months for me, and from various people I've spoken to (including GP and a friend who is a GP) it seems that a few months is more common than 4-6 weeks. It's a horrible wait x

I had a horrific period 6 weeks after miscarrying.

Firstly I’m sorry for your loss. I too miscarried for the second time back in October about 8 weeks ago now (I was 10.5 weeks gestation). I bled and spotted for 3 weeks then had a positive test due to an incomplete miscarriage. I had medical management and bled for a further 2.5 weeks and I still haven’t had a period yet but the hospital have suggested it could be anywhere from 3-6 after the miscarriage completes. I don’t know if that helps. They did also say everyone’s different. My first miscarriage at 6.5 weeks, was totally different and I had a period about 2 weeks after I had a negative test (which was about 2 weeks after it started). But I also then had a few months of irregular periods before they returned to normal. I wouldn’t worry too much at this time, but I totally appreciate it’s very frustrating not knowing when it will come! X
