Late at Crawling??

Hi. I have a beautiful healthy (just over) 9 month old who absolutely loves bouncing in her jolly jumper and standing (with support). But she hates tummy time (I make sure she does at least 15 mins every day) and has no concept of crawling... even though I end up looking the goon and crawling across the floor for her to copy and grin at. But she just grins and bangs get back legs up and down. Am I expecting her to crawl too soon. I know I should probably count my blessings that I’m not having to chase after her every second. Just love some other mummy’s experiences.

Our baby girl was late to crawl, she just used to roll about, then at 11 months old, she would conmando crawl, I really thought she would never pop up and crawl properly. She started crawling properly at a year and walking with a walker and cruising on the furniture, then by 13 months was walking. She is definitely making up for it now, walking and now climbing on everything!

Thank you Seb9, that’s great to hear. I don’t want to push her and should stop having expectations (awful habit). It’s just good to hear about other babies developments. They’re all so different and do it at their own time. Thank you for sharing 🙏🏼

Hi. My little boy never crawled and he only started to walk at 18 months . He is a healthy happy 3 year old. All babies are different. My daughter who is 18 now started walking at 10 months. I wouldn't worry xx

Thank you AGKG. That’s great to hear. I completely agree that I shouldn’t worry. I think it’s just stories about other mum friends I have who’s babies are all crawling with cut teeth by 6 months! I’m stopping the comparison now, otherwise what type of mum will I become. My little girl is bonnie and perfect and fully switched on. I’ll let her take her own pace on this. Thank you so much for replying and sharing xx

9month is a very average age to crawl IE some will before some will after. 1st was 9 months and I panicked, my second was 5 months and I wished shed stay put. Some children don't crawl and walk first some bum shuffle. It's not a fixed milestone if that makes sense. Sounds like standing etc which is very normal development.

Thank you. I’m just going to enjoy following her lead on this then x

I'd second everything the above said, it's very different for each baby. Sitting aided/unaided or holding her is also classed as tummy time. If she doesn't enjoy being on tummy, try to get her to sit, with support or maybe a little table she can stand up at, she might just never crawl and skip to walking instead. I wouldn't worry x

My lb was nearly 11 months when he crawled and then 15 months when he walked. He is nearly 2 now and runs around like a bull in a China shop 😂 I'd say enjoy it while there is no movement 🤣
