Irregular periods and negative pregnancy test

I have irregular periods around 45-47 days. We have been trying for a baby and have been using an app to track my ovulation as best as I can. Last week I was ovulating. Today and yesterday I have been feeling nauseous, especially if I am hungry. I have lower back pain, lower abdominal twinges and dull aches, burping and also slightly sick in my mouth. I have taken two tests but both negative and my period is not due for ages. Did anybody have these similar symptoms, could I be pregnant?

If you ovulated a week ago, you’d still have another week until you’d have a chance at a positive test, personally I’d try using ovulation predictor kits, apps aren’t reliable with irregular periods, the data can only do so much and generally you need 3 identical cycles (depending on the app) before the algorithm gets accurate xx

I have read that spotting only happens to a small percentage of women.

Thanks for the negativity. Thought this was meant to be a support group.

Not being negative at all that’s how your post comes across being to the point you should see a doctor about your irregular periods you might have an underlying condition you can’t go on ttc like this your periods need addressing the app won’t spot it right cause your periods are irregular read your post again you have a million symptoms but negative test period not even due you can only test later cause it might be too early but you won’t know because your period is out of whack so you have to keep testing

What is the point of that? Make you feel better to be so insensitive?

I don’t think I’m being insensitive at all i gave you advise on what I feel from the post so you could analyse it yourself .For me I used to ignore any symptoms which weren’t strong enough and I advised that you should see a g.p about your irregular periods

I've already done that. I am fully aware of my period length and have dont have pcos. I am also using ovulation tests and taking my basal temperature. This is all recorded in my app to effectively detect when I am fertile. My question was had anyone experienced symtoms like this and when is an appropriate time to test when your period length is longer than 35 days.

As for your comment, it did read as insensitive and you should consider what it is you write on people's posts. You dont know everyone's situation.

It’s not just pcos lots of things you could have.and of course people have symptoms pregnancy or not which is point I was making and there’s no appropriate time to test cause of your period you have to keep doing it

I’m sorry if I offended you but that wasn’t my intention I wish you luck on your journey

Symptom spotting is a term in the TTC community for overanalysing your symptoms during the two week wait (TWW) and matching the smallest twinge or belly ache to a symptom of pregnancy, it doesn’t mean you’re spotting (bleeding) or not at all

You might be symptom spotting, but that does not mean you’re not pregnant. Definitely good to go by ovulation kits in the future if the pregnancy test turns out negative, because of how long your cycles are which makes it harder to know when Ovulation occurs. Also have a look out for stringy clear stretchy cervical mucus. It is a very good predictor of fertility.

Good luck with everything. I can’t tell you the amount of times I’ve heard people say they relaxed a bit and it just happened. Easier said than done I know because you can’t just switch into that way of thinking, it’s a mindset which comes to you. But you never know, this time could be the one xx

Your highly unlikely to get a positive test of you only ovulated a week ago though. The minimum is about 8 DPO, and it would mean that your egg and sperm came together on the exact day of ovulation when it could be a few days out.

I would wait another week and v test again with a early detection test, use your first morning wee before it's diluted and you'll get a clearer answer.

Your symptoms could be due to lots of factors, I feel ill in this heat, but I'm definitely not pregnant. I didn't have any symptoms of pregnancy when I was pregnant so they're not great to go on unfortunately. Best of luck though x

You need to wait at least 2 weeks from.ovulation ideally 3 if you don't feel like testing several times. This will give you an idea. Symptoms themselves mean very little, and very few people have symptoms so early on.

Good luck!

Hay

I just looked at my app to see if I had any symptoms prior to getting a bfp and I had pains off and on for a few days prior and I had vivid dreams. I felt hungry and had like cold-like symptoms. I took a test at 9dpo as I knew exactly when I ovulated. I also just knew I was pregnant even before I took the test. Fingers crossed for you, it's so hard each month when it's all you want x
