Spotting

Had a 7 week early internal scan yesterday, showed it was only 5w + 6d with FH.

Then last night I spotted lightly...

Firstly does baby seem small or normal? To be a week out? And bleeding?

Many thanks

Hello,

Hope you’re ok!!

I can’t comment on the bleeding part - really sorry! If it worries you or doesn’t feel right, call your midwife ASAP just to be sure.

The dates however are normal. I regressed at my scan by about the same time frame as you have described above. The Sonographer said people regress either between a week- 2 weeks as you go by your last period but that doesn’t mean you conceived straight away afterwards. Hope this helps xx

Thank you for that x

If bc spotting doesn’t calm down by later I’ll make some calls..

NHS not interested in me even with my health issues...

Who would I call? Haven’t got midwife

I’ve also read on here that it’s key to note the colour of the blood. Brown blood could still be old implantation blood and bright red is obviously a concern. I’ve never experience either of those so I would just that that eIther way, if it doesn’t feel right I wouldn’t take any chances.

Really sorry that you feel you’re not getting support from the NHS. I would google the early pregnancy unit nearby and phone them, or phone your GP who will be able to guide you. If all else fails and you’re concerned, 111 it :)

Hope this helps x

The sickness is a good sign!! Fingers crossed for you all!

(Ps - I was just thinking that if you’ve had an internal exam, like a cervix swab you get a bit of a bleed afterwards as the cervix is disturbed. Hopefully it is this).

Sending lots of a best wishes to you! X

Sickness is a great sign I had hyperemesis and apparently 70% of pregnant people who vomit go on to have a live birth. Silver linings and all that! I have an IVF pregnancy so was super anxious the nurse at my clinic told me that stat to try and calm my nerves

Thank you EmGLA, queezy is my new morning and evening norm lol x

Was the scan internal or external? The early scans can be out as they are trying to measure something so small. And the scans themselves can cause irritation. Have you continued to bleed or was it just a small amount of brown spotting? Usually epu will advise only to worry if you have enough blood to fill a pad in under an hour. But definitely call your clinic for reassurance xx

It was internal, I’m still bleeding (brown light) called early pregnancy unit and they said not to worry, but you can’t help it eh . Still queezy this morning and boobs ache I’m crossing everything x

That will be most likely it then. Every time I had an internal exam it irritated me and I had spotting. Even to red blood. It does stop after a few days and, the epu will only worry (therefore tell you only to worry) if you have as i said above - enough red (fresh) blood to fill a pad in under an hour. I am glad they spoke with you. Hope you can relax a little. These first few weeks are actually in some ways so much harder than the first 2ww. Xx

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! Mine is only when I wipe and not enough to reach underwear, I shall start calming down then and let things be! Really appreciate your advice xx

No worries at all. That is what the forum is for xx

Yeh don’t worry I had spotting a few times between 6-10 weeks, also when I 1st got scanned I thought I was further along than the size they had the baby measuring, by the time I had my 12 week scan it was back to just a day different than what I though - its just because the baby is so small at that point 😁

That’s fantastic xxx 🥰

I had bleeding with both full term pregnancies- my son I bled fresh blood @7 weeks , my daughter I bled 6-14 weeks mostly brown but did have fresh blood with clots at 10 weeks. This pregnancy( 5 weeks 3 days) I’ve had brown spotting from beginning & this morning had some red spotting ( totally freaked me out) I experienced a chemical pregnancy between my son & daughter the difference was I had severe abdominal pain before bleeding & the bleeding got heavier with massive blood clots whereas the other ones it stopped. It is very nerve racking & I wish I wasn’t someone who bled in pregnancy ( but I am) Rest up & hope it eases. Spotting doesn’t always mean miscarriage xxx

Unfortunately I went through the same thing. I had spotting that turned into bleeding and my internal scan showed the baby was smaller than it should be. They should have tested your hcg levels and then test them again in 48 hours to see if they are rising appropriately. I miscarried, but was able to get pregnant again just a few months after and am currently 22 weeks.

So sorry you're going through this, all you can do is rest up and take painkillers if your having any pains. When I had my miscarriage I did everything I couldn't do in pregnancy, drank wine, ate cheese and pate etc as a bit of an FU to mother nature for her cruelty. I hope you've got some support at home, it helps to talk to people about it. It's surprising when you mention what you're going through how many others have been through it too and can offer support.

Lots of love xx

Thank you Seb, I was lucky enough to have a d&c last time, this time tho I feel very let down down medically..... I really appreciate your words of comfort tho. The cramps are so painful at the minute so looking forward to that glass and bottle of wine!!! Xxx

That's so tough, I sometimes think the medical profession see it so much they become a bit numb to it when if they knew you or what you were going through they'd be more sympathetic.

Enjoy your wine and I hope your pain eases soon xxx
