Hello Dear Readers i am New Here . . .

Any body has Experienced or Experiencing Polyhydramnios ?

Polyhydramnios is where there is too much Amniotic Fluid around the baby during pregnancy. Amniotic fluid is the fluid that surrounds your baby in the womb

i am 26 Weeks Pregnant and as my Mid Wife says i have Polyhydramnios

but i don't feel the Signs the Doctor mentioned . like Breath shortness etc

but i am worried about my baby :(

Thank You Everyone

Hi,

I was diagnosed with this at a scan when I was around 28 weeks so I know it’s really scary. I was assured by my dr that the majority of cases have no real cause (sorry I can’t remember the correct term for that!).

I was retested for gestational diabetes as this can lead to polyhydramnios, as can having a large baby. Did your dr mention testing you for this? Mine had corrected itself before I gave birth but my baby weighed 9lb12 even though he was early so I think it was caused by that in my case.

Try not to panic and stay away from dr google - they should keep a close eye on you until birth now. Wishing you lots of luck xx

Hello

I was told I have extra fluid around baby at my last scan. I'm now 38 weeks. The consultant said it could be due to my gestational diabetes although she said that didn't really fit as my blood sugars are good. She didn't say what else it could be or seem concerned about it. Do you have another appointment coming up where you can find out more? I hope all goes well for you x

Hi

I had Polyhydramnios and unstable lie. They related 2 things together. I also had GD which was only discovered at week 36. But the real cause of Polyhydramnios is unknown. In itself it’s not a risk, nothing to worry about. Baby can still engage and GD can be treated by diet or insulin.

All the best, Happy to give more details if you would like.

Hi 👋 I had extra fluid too but also think it was because I have GD. I’m on medication and on my 36 week scan the fluid has returned to the normal range and I could feel the difference. A friend of mine had extra fluid in one of her pregancy and she didn’t have GD no known cause and all was fine x

I was diagnosed with poly and everything was absolutely fine. Had loads of extra intervention due to poly and “big baby” and really don’t think any of it was necessary but the doctors thought there were risks. My baby was said to be big and due to that and poly I was induced early. She was born 8lb3 really healthy no problems. She’s 5 months now and doing great. Try not to worry, I felt pretty good throughout my pregnancy (other than feeling really heavy with a huge belly!) until I started being prodded at haha. Good luck with everything xxx

Process started at 38 weeks and I ended up giving birth at 39 weeks. It was all totally fine, like I said I have a beautiful healthy little girl, I don’t understand what all the fuss was about. Try not to worry. I think 38 weeks is normal with poly. There’s a risk of the umbilical clues coming out if your waters break so they like you to be in hospital. Good luck :) not long to go now!!xxx

I'm in the same situation but haven't been told anything other than they will rescan me at 35 weeks. I'm worried about something being wrong with my baby?? Lack of information sends you into brain overdrive 😕

No health condition for baby so don't panic everything will be fine

Don’t worry! I was concerned but when I saw the consultant she literally just said to me “you’re not worried are you?!”. Extra scans are nice as you get to see your baby more often 😊 xxx

Hi I have polyhydramnios but I never showed any symptoms like shortness of breath and when I asked my midwives and doctors they said it's not dangerous for mother or baby its up to the baby now when she/he wants to come but if the fluid goes up they bring you in and start labor and I'm 34 weeks and 6 days

I have poly too, found out at 28 weeks & now 32. my levels were quite high but eased off slightly at my 31 week scan. I am basically having fortnightly scans as baby is also measuring big. Have you had a diabetes & torch blood test?
