I had a miscarriage due to a car accident, how long do I need to wait before getting pregnant again?

I got into a car accident on July 2 of this year, somebody ran a red light and I was already in the intersection and I hit them, I got carried away in the paramedic vehicle and when I got to the hospital everything seems fine with my baby, up until a couple days ago when I started bleeding and cramping really bad so I went to the hospital and the doctor said that my baby has been dead since I was 12 weeks old. I’m just starting to have the miscarriage now almost 2 1/2 weeks later how long do I need to wait until I can get pregnant again and have a successful pregnancy?

There isn't a timeframe you need to wait after a miscarriage physically speaking. However psychologically speaking that depends when you're ready. Everyone is different.

So sorry you had to go through that, hope you have recovered well.

Depending on the type of miscarriage you had and if you have been given the all clear healthwise by a Dr. No reason to wait to start trying again. At least thats what 2 midwives i asked had told me. As long as you have physically and mentally recovered. I think its actually advised to try within the first 6 months after a miscarriage as you can be more fertile. But you should definitely just check with your own midwife/Dr for their advice and assurance just incase opinions have changed.

Good luck!

Yes I have an appointment with my doctor today and I’m going to ask her as well. Thank you so much for the advice.

So sorry for your loss.

I think everyone is different in the experience they have, I miscarried 3 weeks ago, my body recovered pretty quick and mentally I’m all good, so we started trying again about 2 weeks ago. I used ovulation sticks to get pregnant the first time, but because I’ve not let my body have a cycle I have no idea when I will ovulate (up to 2 weeks you still have some of the pregnancy hormone left in your body so no point in using them) we have decided just to try, not really think about it too much, although it’s hard Cos I’m just ready to be pregnant again. Take each day as it comes, you will know when your ready xxx

Yea me and my fiancé want to just be pregnant again, so we are wanting to try right away again when I’m physically ready to get pregnant again.

Hi

I'm so sorry! I tried as soon as the bleeding and cramping stopped so you don't get an infection. I was told I didn't have to wait if I felt able to and wanted to i could start trying straight away. Xx

So sorry,I believe wait until your bleed about 6 weeks.Give yourself at least 2 normal cycles just to make sure your body has recovered.

Hey! You have to get fully fit in order to be able to have kids again. You should also call the doctors that treated you after the accident and ask them if you have suffered anything that may block you from having kids. You can also be on medication that prevents that, and you should be informed about that before you try to make another kid. Having a lawyer to get all the medical documents would also be very helpfull. If everything is ok, I think you can do whatever you want after two or three months. Very sorry to hear this, must be so awful for you. I had a missed miscarriage in 2020 and I was advised to wait until I had a normal period and then try again after that. It makes sure that you will know you dates and there aren’t any retained tissues or infection risks. Also a lot of people say, oh you are so fertile after a miscarriage, easy to get pregnant in next 6 months. It took us closer to 8-9 months. I found it very difficult when I got to the 6 month later part, was outside of the ‘fertile’ window and nothing happen and ended up needed counselling due to all the trauma of everything. Just want to say some people get pregnant in the next month or 2 and some people take longer and don’t put too much pressure on yourself
