Evening all,

Many of you know I have had recent gynae surgery to correct poorly healed episiotomy after postpartum haemorrhage ... Went well apart from minor post op infection treated with antibiotics. All appearing to heal at my last check.

I've now started conservative treatment.. psychologically it's been a bit of a traumatic op given the type of surgery and the conservative 'stretching' has been painful and seems to be getting worse 🙉 it says in the leaflet to contact GP if any pain but obviously don't want to waste anyone's time if this is to be expected. I'm worried that the scar has become hypersensitive but it's also been sore deep inside so to speak.

My feeling is to try and persevere as I am only 4 weeks post op and maybe try some regular pain killers, i'm just not sure if this is normal 🤔

I've been to and from the GP for several reasons recently and I feel embarassed to call again 🙉

4 weeks is a pretty short time for a wound to heal tbh esp. if you had an infection as it's likely to delay things a bit further.

If the gynae people said things are healing well I'd perservere with regular paracetamol, ibuprofen when necessary. A GP will suggest regular pain relief if pain is the issue, unless things are looking infected again.

I wouldn’t worry at 4 weeks, you need to remember nerves have been cut etc and you’re still healing, plus you’ve had that infection so that would’ve delayed things too, I’d be more worried at the 6 month mark, I wouldn’t start stretching your scar and pushing it unless you doctor advises, but just stick with regular painkillers and keeping it clean for now, it’s a marathon not a sprint and you’ve already done the worst bit, it’s only up from here xx

Thank you, I was given the go ahead to start at my last post op check so will keep going for now and hopefully it will start to feel easier soon 🤞
