So I wrote on here a while ago about my LG going too sleep.

We are still having the same problem, she will have a couple of nights on her bed, then a few bad nights where she ends up on our bed.

We have left her too cry, it makes her worse, white noise doesn’t work anymore. We just don’t know what we can do.

Hi hun,

We are having issues with our lb still too. He goes to sleep on me, then goes in his cot from about 8pm until any time from 11pm ends up in with us. We are going to try sleep training but i need to read up on it x

I’m glad it’s not just us lol. We are taking it in turns each time, 1 will sleep with her and other downstairs. It’s hard on us.

Please let me know how you get on, it’s so hard. I don’t feel bad for letting her cry, but then I hate myself when I go and see her and she’s soaking wet in dribble, snot and sweat. Dirty nappy, I feel awful. x

Is your lb still having 2 naps? My LG is, she’s showing no signs of stopping 1 at all, she may miss a nap once a week, but that’s all and that’s only when she’s had a bad night and has slept in x

Yeah he has stopped 2 naps now, but think he is a bit older (16.5 months). But that still hasnt made much difference to his sleep. We both stay in bed but my husband gets really annoyed at not having much space.

My friend recently did sleep training, said it took 3 days and then she went from being like our little ones to sleep the night in her cot! I made a half hearted attempt but couldnt leave him crying.

When she started going in her own bed at 7pm we left her crying and it lasted 4 days, 1st night 50 mins, 2nd 30mins, 3rd 10mins and 4th a couple of mins.

She’s only been like this the last 4-6 weeks, put it down to the leap, but she’s out of that now.

Did you little one just stop needing his morning sleep? Or did you wean him of it? I’m 1st time mum, so I don’t know what I should be doing with this x

Me too hun so im guessing alot of the time! Lol

He had days where he missed his morning nap but then was so tired at 12.30 so obviously put him to bed then and he didnt have an afternoon nap. Then that lasted about a week and i thought id cracked it then the following week he had 2 naps again! But thats passed and now he has his nap between 11.30am and 12.30pm (if he naps at 11.30am he wakes up about 1pm then has lunch if he naps at 12.30pm he has his lunch at about 12pm and wakes up about 2.15pm)

Oh really, I think il just leave her to sort of tell me when she’s ready. She always comes over too tell me when she’s tired, so that’s when I know she’s still needs her sleep. It’s always around 3 hours after she wakes up, x

I feel your pain. My lb has never been the best sleeper but recently he won’t nap, won’t go to sleep at night and is awake chatting in his cot at 4.30am. He just seems constantly wired at the moment. I’m watching this post with interest.xx

Ah bless you, luckily she’s always been a good sleeper, so this is all new too us. I think there’s a sleep regression around 12-15 months plus leaps and she’s learnt too walk, so a number of reasons, which I’m hoping it is.

Oh really, does he nap at all? x

Yeah he does eventually. One day he has one nap then the next day two. I don’t think he’s ready to change to one just yet but he’s certainly trying ha ha. I leave him chattering in the morning but he just seems to be waking up earlier and earlier now.xx

How old is he? My LG is 15months and she’s showing no signs of dropping a nap yet x

He’s nearly 14 months. He transitioned earlier from three to two naps. He’s not ready for one nap yet.x

Oh really, so he has 2 naps now? I can’t remember the last time my LG has 3 naps when she was like couple months old lol 😂🙄 x

I’d prefer the two naps but sometimes it’s only half an hour each😂. He is some boy. I’d just love a whole nights 😴 . It’s hard going now I’m back at work but at least I work from home so can sit there looking absolutely shattered ha ha.x

What about gradual retreat rather than cry it out? I read up that the first few nights you sit with them with a hand on them if needs be in their room until they fall asleep, then when that’s working you remove the hand but stay where you had been, then you move a bit further, and keep going until you can walk out of the room. There was a great thread on the method on one of the parenting sites but it was very long! But explained it better than I have. Might be a gentler approach that you are looking for 😊

On the nap transition ours was just getting a bit late towards lunch so because she was getting disturbed at nursery by kids needing to do one nap that overlapped with our two they suggested she dropped one and went to one a day on the same schedule and it worked. They told me it only takes about a week for them to adjust but I’m sure you’ll know when she needs to drop it.

All the best with working out the sleep x

We have tried sitting there with her, she just wants too be on us, as soon as we pick her up, she snuggles into us and goes too sleep. But we are going to try this weekend if she plays up.

Yea I’m sure she will tell me when she’s ready, she certainly tells me when she’s tired lol. Thank you x

So a little update-

5th June, we put LG to bed she woke up and screaming when put into bed. Left her 1/2 hour, when to see her, change nappy and cuddle, put back into bed, screaming, left 20 mins. Went back up gave cuddle and wipe round face, a little chat and back into bed. She whinged for 20 minutes and then gave in and went too sleep.

She hasn’t got in our bed once since then, she’s stayed in her bed. She may wake up when we put in her bed, a little whinge then straight too sleep
