Cravings - unique/unusual

Hello ladies

I hope you're all well and keeping safe?

Just wondered out of curiosity what your go to was for cravings? When I was pregnant with my daughter I had mild cravings for onions bhajis & chips in pitta bread (I say mild as it was now & again I wanted it at random times & when I wanted it, i wanted it!) now during this pregnancy I've had none (I know all pregnancies are different) but just wondered (something different to talk about I guess lol) I had a friend who craved talcum powder & ice cubes which I hadn't heard of before (the talc part)

First 4 weeks was balsamic vinegar or anything acidic on EVERYTHING!! Luckily that has passed now, I'm 10+5, its mainly sweet things now

🙈 I'm glad your cravings have passed now, I do love my chips swimming in vinegar but couldn't imagine it on everything. Can you stand the smell of it now or did you eventually go off it completely? X

I've not been interested in it since, so I don't really know! I can still eat salt and vinegar crisps, for now 😂 xx

in reply to Purplemum2b

Haha oh good, can't go wrong with a packet of s & v crisp 🤤 x

Definitely! They sort me out on a morning if I'm feeling nauseous xx

in reply to Purplemum2b

Bless you, I hope you're not struggling too much with nausea/sickness? I'm still trying to shake mine off 🥺 I'm told it does get better but yet to find out for myself x

10+5. I have the odd day when I think wow, its gone! Then a day later it bites me on the backside 🤦‍♀️ xx

in reply to Purplemum2b

I've fallen for that too 🤦🏼‍♀️ I get all this energy & feel great but then it knocks me for six later on or early hours, but it's all worth it so I shouldn't complain I guess lol xx

Coal and chalk. Very random. Couldn’t eat either but spent an awful long time with my head in the coal bucket smelling the coal! Wasn’t anaemic either ( was tested), just weird 🤣 For the chalk craving I ate a lot of indigestion tablets!

in reply to Baypony

Oh wow that's a new one, thank goodness you couldn't eat the coal, did the cravings last all throughout your pregnancy? X

From 30 weeks to when she was born. The day after she was born They went away!!!

in reply to Baypony

Oh my, that's good you only had 10 weeks of it. I didn't realise cravings could kick in so far? That's good to know x

Toward the end of the pregnancy I couldn't get enough of mandarins. I was eating them 2 or 3 at a time, up to 10 a day. I was in the supermarket every day buying more. Still, it could have been worse and it helped against pregnancy constipation!!

in reply to MissSaoPaulo

Mmm I do enjoy mandarins, I imagine it was the sweetness of them that perhaps you couldn't get enough of? I think its amazing how cravings can kick in so late in pregnancy, I'm hoping I get some with this one (hopefully something nice 😊) When I was pregnant with my daughter the mild cravings left as quickly as they came x

This is my first pregnancy I’ve only had aversions so far (I’m 14 weeks) between that and sickness I’ve barely wanted to eat

🙈.

Xx

in reply to EmGLA

Sorry to hear, I sympathise completely as I'm the same. Had sickness really bad since week 7 & its not shifting... maybe that's why I havent got any cravings as I cant really stomach anything.

Have you tried any remedies? I wrote a post on here last week about nausea/sickness & the ladies were really helpful giving ideas about ginger for example but unfortunately nothing works for me personally. X

I’ve tried ginger supplements, ginger tea, I’ve swapped pregnacare for another multivitamin. I thought once I got into second trimester things would ease but not yet. Ive been to the doctor and I am taking two anti-sickness tablets still. I dread to think what I would be like without them! I’ll check out your post thanks. X

I weirdly craved cheese strings! Not proper cheese just processed, also cheap cheese slices 😂😂😂. I ate tons of them!! Lol

in reply to Charleexn2

Oh really, how weird it was a particular cheese haha. Did the cravings last very long? X

Nothing out of the ordinary- I wanted bread and cheese so ate a lot of pizza in the first trimester. I liked eating curries too. Xx

in reply to Winter_Girl

I ate alot of bread based things at first but just to get something in me as it didnt have a smell. My daughter would've loved to have lived with you during your cravings - she would live on pizza & curries for the rest of her life if she could xx
