Hi I have my first scan next week and me and my husband are both very excited to see our baby. Is it true that they are not allowed in?

Hiya, it sounds very unlikely your other half will be aloud in. Though your hospital should be able to give you photos so your other half can see baby x

Check on your hospitals website, they should have their current restrictions posted but I think they’ve all stopped partners at scans now x

Depends whereabouts you are! I’m in Cambs and there is one still open near me allowing partners.

Try window to womb? I think it’s at the clinics discretion so check the Facebook page for the one closest to you xx

I was told by my midwife that my husband can’t come to mine and mine isn’t even at the hospital, it’s in a community clinic. We are both gutted but understand it’s about keeping us safe xx

I know my hubby’s face looked so sad when I told him but I’m going to ask if I can FaceTime him while we are having the scan so he won’t miss out completely and he said this won’t be the last scan just gutted for him as we have waited 6 years for this and been through IVF x

Im afraid any scans and antenatal appointments are to be attended alone as per guidance on RCOG website x

I have my 12 week scan next and also was told my partner can’t come in :(

I had my scan last Monday, first baby and my other half had to wait in the car, We weren't allowed to video chat as it can mess with the system. But if it keeps me and the baby safe, its something we will never get back but if I got poorly or the baby got poorly it's something we would also never get back if anything seriously wrong happened. I would check the RCOG website every day, they literally update it constantly! You'll be fine you got to be strong for the baby!!

Good luck!! xxx

I had my scan last week at Hillingdon Hospital and my partner wasn’t even allowed in the hospital. The nurses were so lovely and professional and explained it’s to protect everyone in the hospital which I appreciate. We booked a private scan after at Window to the Womb in Watford and he was allowed to that one. Hope yours goes well for you xxx

Nazzzz profile image
Nazzzz in reply to wherearemysox

I'm thinking of doing the same, so you can say forsure Wtow allow partners in? X

wherearemysox profile image
wherearemysox in reply to Nazzzz

Yes I contacted them and specifically asked so you could call your local one and just double check but we were in the same situation last week to how we are now and he was allowed in then

You most likely will have to attend by yourself. Its for the safety of you, the staff and others at the end of the day!

I See loads of people have replied,I was told not to bring anyone. I know its difficult but when I went at least 6 people bought their partners, who were not allowed into the unit but the point is that's 6 ,extra people coming into a hospital, potentially carrying the disease .so I can completely understand why they are doing it .good luck x

I had a scan recently and I was also really upset - so was my husband. I FaceTimed him during the scan, but he wasn’t able to see much.

I understand how you feel :( but hopefully things calm down and at one of the next scans they can join us
