Hiya,

Hope you are all keeping safe and well in the current pandemic!

I was after some advice please, im 9 weeks yesterday and tonight i’ve had stomach pains/cramps, like my period was wanting to start! It was only a few minutes but enough to grab my attention.

Any suggestions or ideas what this feeling is?!

Could this be growing pains, or something worse?

This is my 2nd pregnancy following my mmc end of last year and get unsure of things everyday given what we’ve been through prior

Thank you x

Hi ya. It could be round ligament pain. I had it quite bad between 8 and 14 weeks. and still get it sometimes now. Fingers cross all is ok. Have you spoken to your midwife about it? X

Thank you for getting back to me. I haven’t spoken with my midwife as it happened late last night and didn’t know if it’s worth a call into her, or if I am worrying over nothing.

Not sure if it makes any difference, but our 12 week scan is two weeks on Friday xx

I’m 18 weeks and have various pains and aches throughout my pregnancy so far, including period like cramps. My midwife just said that aches and pains are totally normal and to only go hospital if there is bleeding or severe pain. Easier said than done but try to remember that you’re body is stretching/changing so pains are likely due to that x

I remember getting this and felt like period pains, I spoke too my midwife and she said it’s round ligament pain. I found nice warm baths and a hot water bottle helped. Later on I got a maternity bump belt, which helped loads x

Hi Lovely!

Very very common in pregnancy! probably one of the biggest complaints is all kinds of ache's and pains! but.... If I am honest often it is like that all the way through pregnancy. You will feel many different types of aches, from growing, to braxton hicks to then labour!

But, what I will say is... It never hurts to get a doctor/midwife to check you over. They will ALWAYS be happy to reassure you and ensure that is nothing to worry about. The majority of the time it is nothing. I would recommend you call EPU or Midwife (depending on what your local NHS Trusts policy is)

You will never be looked down on for getting checked out!
