Pregnancy and Coronavirus

How worried are you about Coronavirus whilst you’re pregnant? Pregnant women have been told to stay at home, I have my 12 week appointment tomorrow. I presume it goes ahead as usual?

I haven’t got a flu shot as I have been wanting to get one when I go to my first appointment to make sure it’s the right one for pregnant women. Have you had yours? Do you get yours at the first midwife appointment?

Hey Mama_Prawn,

I completely feel the same! My 12 week scan is on Monday, I haven’t heard anything from the hospital to say otherwise so I’m assuming they are happening as usual?

Regarding the flu shot. I was told they weren’t available anymore as it’s out of season and this years will be available from October. Xx

Thank you for your reply! This whole thing just got me really worried. Were you told at your first midwife appointment that flu shots weren’t available anymore? So what did they advise you to do instead to help prevent flu?

Also what is the advice of you catch a cold or flu during early pregnancy? What can and can’t you take?

No problem 😊

Yes I was told that by the midwife at my first app. She said you can ring around doctors but they are unlikely to have any stock left because flu season is basically over. Flu season is Dec - Mar so you unlikely to catch it now. You can take paracetamol, anything else, check with a pharmacist or doctor xx

I had my flu shot yesterday so must be different in different areas. I also went for my 12 week scan last week and booked by 16 week check up.

It’s important to attend all appointments and contact your midwife if you have any concerns.

Take care x

Thank you all!!

I’ll go to my appointment today and will ask the question about flu shot along with my long list of questions.

Take care everyone! Xx

Just to let you know. My friend has her 12 week scan today and they now won’t let your partner in (unsure if it’s just our local hospital or all hospitals) due to Coronavirus. They said it could be the same for the 20 week scan and even the birth!!!!!!!!

Our hospital is still letting partners in so it’s definitely not all hospitals! Xx
