Gagging when brushing teeth

I am just over 10 weeks pregnant and I find when I brush my teeth, the taste and general action makes me gag. I am hoping it’ll pass once I am out (if I get out) of the morning sickness phase. In the meantime, has anyone else had this and do they have any tips? Thank you :)

I had this in the early days of my pregnancy when I was feeling sick (understatement!) I just learned to take it slow and avoided the back of my mouth when I felt bad. Or I could feel when I had enough and I was was starting to fee that I was going to throw up so stopped for a bit and came back to it when the feeling had passed. Sometimes I just couldn’t stomach it and had to live with furry teeth 😫 for a day or so. Which isn’t great if you are being sick but it’s the lesser of two evils. Try and avoid chewing gum if you can - that will make your sickness worse as the chewing stimulates the acid in your stomach (found that out the hard way) if you need a mint, try a hard mint that you can suck. It’s horrible when you’re going through it but it will pass!

I had this. It's horrible, isn't it? Mine was worse when trying to brush my back teeth and sometimes I just couldn't do it. For those times I would use mouth wash so my teeth were at least getting a bit of a clean and some kind of protection. Thankfully it did stop for me, I think around week 14. Hope it stops for you soon!

Oh I remember this, I would gag as soon I started brushing my teeth, I had constant nausea in the early weeks and would often be sick and gag when brushing teeth. As others have said on particularly bad days I would use mouth wash.

I found mine subsided when I hit 16 weeks along with the nausea however it would still happen every now and again and my nausea returned of an evening towards the end of my pregnancy so just didn't brush my teeth before bed for fear of being sick and used mouth wash instead.

Ohhh lord I had this. I’m not going to lie I had it for majority of my 1st n 2nd trimester. I realised some days I could brush through it 🙈, with episodes of sickness in-between. Some days I’d have get back to it as I refused to leave the house without brushing. Although, it wasn’t the best job 😂. Also, I found brushing my teeth on a empty stomach was better in some ways. It’s worse when you’ve got a bump to consider aswell 🙈. I know I haven’t given much advice but it’s completely normal xx
