Hello! Does anyone know if I’m allowed to have my nails with gel varnish? I’m planning to get ready for the birth (waxing, mani and pedi) but I’m not sure what I can do :)

Oh I’ve just booked in the same! Having a mani, pedi and waxing next week to feel a little bit ready! Didn’t even think I might not be allowed!

I’d be interested to see what others say x

I've always been told not to wear it in hospital because it can interfere with oxygen saturation readings.

Hello, on all my paperwork for surgery following my missed miscarriage, the paperwork stated no nail varnish including gels etc. It might be different for birth? xx

I had gel nails only on my finger tip and I had a c-section. The anesthist didn’t make me remove any as she said it was fine as they could get a saturation reading clearly and if not they would use my toe.

I had Gel on my nails and toes when I gave birth last week, I asked the midwife prior and she told me it wouldn’t be a problem during the antenatal class.

Maybe worth checking with your hospital and their policy. Perhaps getting just your hands done and leaving toes empty x
