hi the past week i have started getting extreme inner thigh pain on my leg. The pain is constant and unbearable! Im still waiting for a call from my GP and my MW was rubbish. I've been taking paracetamol to just be able to walk though i do not want to keep doing this. Has anyone else experienced this and does it go x

Sounds like PGP

That's how mine started

Turned the into all my hips and pelvis hurting

There isn't much help I was given codomol in my last pregnancy as I was crying in pain all day but in this pregnancy after my baby was born with withdrawal I would avoid I'm 10 weeks and mine has started it's the hormones and all the ligaments around your pelvis

Physio is the best option and a v shaped pillow for bed time and a belt physio can fit and adjust throughout your pregnancy, obviously get into see your go and be checked over first as obviously there could be another cause, but I've had 7 children and it sounds like how mine started with my last baby

Hope you feel better soon

I have been suffering from left hip and inner thigh pain since week 16. I’m now 27 weeks and all that helps a little bit is yoga and a massage roller - but that’s only a brief relief. I went to acupuncture yesterday and for the first time in ages slept well through the night without agonising pain when turning from one side to another. The pain is not fully gone but the improvement is amazing. I can even walk without much pain now and get up without agonising shooting pain in my groin area. So will definitely go to acupuncture again to see if it can help even more. Check with your midwife whether your hospital provides acupuncture. My acupuncture therapist also suggested strengthening exercises like leg lifts while laying on your side and also hip releases on your fours and leg lifts on your fours. X

My PGP started like this. Though I didn’t know what it was at the time. Thought I’d pulled a muscle in my groin but then it moved to the other leg. Turned into hip and pelvis pain, limping from one leg to the other and result was very little sleep throughout the pregnancy.

There isn't much help, you can get a referral for NHS physio - mine gave me crutches and a tubigrip support and sent me on my way. I’m fortunate I could pay for private physio and chiropractor and they got me off the crutches eventually. I can now do short distances without crutches but my pelvis is still painful now at 34 weeks. I’m not doing pregnancy again after this!

Get a U shaped pillow and fold a spare duvet and lie on it at night. I try to only take painkillers before bed, shop online and generally don’t do much to keep the pain under control. I was signed off work at 27 weeks. Go and see your GP and persevere with the midwife, tell them it’s PGP. Hope you get help x

Hello! Sorry to hear that. I’m also struggling with pain on my right leg. lt’s almost like a sciatic pain. Last night I could barely walk 😕 we’re travelling this weekend for a little break but not even sure how much I’ll be able to do. Went to the midwife this week and she wasn’t very helpful. I explained what I was feeling and got a ‘ahh bless!!’ Basically all part of being pregnant... and not much can be done. She said only if it gets too serious and unbearable I can get the GP to refer me to do some physio, but this is for extreme cases! Not sure what qualifies as serious or unbearable.... I was hoping she could advise on stuff like exercises I can do at home, yoga, how to cope at work.... but nothing! Anyway, think I’ll start some yoga soon and will try cycling at the gym and go for a swim , let’s see what that does. Hope you feel better soon!

Hi All

Thank you for your replies :) GP suspected dvt thank god it wasn't though my hip is being moved due to the position of my baby :( the pain has eased off a lot now, just an achy pain in my knee though im still walking with a limp. All the hospital and GP could say was "take paracetamol its ok to take 8 a day" ( i dont think this is ok, how can it be?)Only need to take one paracetamol now when i wake in the night. Hopefully it will completely go after she arrives! :) I feel for anybody that has to go through this its enough to put you off pregnancy all together

Have you tried an osteopath? I had similar, I have been twice and it’s soo much better worth the money. Wish I had gone sooner! With me it turned out my gluteus (arse) were really tight! Always nice to hear you have a tight arse 😂 except in this case as it was causing me pain both walking and general moving.
