27 Weeks - No Movement - Outcome

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to share what happened to me today, I’ve seen a few similar posts but you rarely hear the outcome.

I finished my 11am meeting and had a sudden sinking feeling, I’d not felt our little man move...usually he has a little party when I get to work but not today.

I downed some glasses of cold water and went to the loo, praying to feel a little kick - nothing.

Anxiety then kicked in - called Midwife twice, no answer. Voicemail said call GP, GP said call 111, 111 said call midwife or GP. Ended up calling the maternity unit and speaking to someone who was covering, she told me I immediately needed to come in (over 15 miles away - other half on a course miles away - more panic) then after lots of tears with my colleagues, I got a call back to say I’d been misinformed and to give my GP a message and ask for an emergency appointment. Got one at 4pm.

She got the Doppler out and there was a nice strong heartbeat, more tears but happier this time!!

Moral of the story, if you think something isn’t rights trust your instinct and don’t give up 💙

Sorry for the essay, just needed to let it all out.

H xx

Glad to hear everything is ok with you and baby! This sort of thing happened to me several times, my cheeky little boy would be still for hours and start kicking as soon as a monitor was strapped on. Now he's a thriving 15 week old, always moving and chatting away. :-)

I'm sure it's so common but your heart sinks when you realise that you haven't felt him move for a while doesn't it. Glad to hear that he's doing well 😊

He's already settled in to a little routine (well I thought he had!) so Dr said it was best to be certain that his heartbeat was ok, they did say from 28 weeks you have to go to hospital instead though

I'm so glad everything is okay with your little man! My boy did the same, he'd be really active for days and then take a rest day.... Scared the crap out of me. I went to the maternity unit quite a few times to get him monitored and everytime he's start kicking again showing off for the ladies...

I learnt that as long as I felt him after downing water he was okay, but after week 32 I got more concerned and always set myself some time lines, eg if I didn't feel him by x hour I'd call maternity unit and get checked. There's no point not getting checked as you'll just sit there stressing out and it's not really a big deal for them to just check him x

Always go if you're worried, only you know your babies patterns x

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy x
