Hey guys, I've noticed for 2 weeks now, this rash has appeared on my LO's back. At first it was only a few splodges but now it seems to have spread up to the back of the shoulder. She doesn't seem fussed by it but I want to know what it is before it gets too severe. Anyone else come across this? I haven't changed detergent or made any changes to my diet. Please helpp

It does look like eczema. Take your little one to the doctor's, they should be able to give you creams and bath additive. My little one's eczema showed up when she was 4 months - we were given hydromol bath additive and mild steroid cream. We only had to use the steroid cream once as we realised that aveeno baby deals with any patches of eczema very quickly.

Looks like eczema to me too, I had it as a baby on my back, and my arms and legs up to 10yrs old. Would be worth getting emollient cream from the chemist, it can be used to both wash with and apply to the skin to help moisturise it. The chemist staff should be able to advise you.

Avoid using anything (creams, sprays bubble bath etc) with any kind of perfume on your LO’s skin and let her roll around in her nappy to get air to her skin - both should help soothe and heal her skin. Might be worth getting a non-biological washing powder/gel and conditioner for her clothes too. I’ve been using one called Sur (available in Tesco & Morrison’s) since my boy was born as I wanted to avoid exposing him to anything too chemical for the first few months of life in case he inherited my sensitive skin 🙄

Eczema can get really uncomfortable (itchy/sore) so it’s good you’re looking to get on top of this now.

If it gets worse or spreads then the doctor might be able prescribe something more for her skin.

Eczema can sometimes relate to allergies to other things eg certain food, that then show up in the skin. A typical trigger can be dairy products, even if she’s not on solids yet, dairy will be in formula and may transfer through you if you breast feed; if the latter, you could try cutting out/reducing your intake for two weeks and see if you see an improvement in her skin.
