Number of teeth at 13.5 months

I’m not concerned (nor are the health visitors) but my LG only has her two bottom front teeth at 13 months. I was just wondering if anyone else had this. She’s showing signs of teething so I think the rest will be arriving soon.

I knew someone’s child who was over 1 year old with no teeth at all.

It’s weird how they are all so different. My LG at 13 months had all but 4 of her teeth and still that way now at 18 months.

I hope they don’t come through at once for her though x

I’m a community nursery nurse with health visiting and see a lot of babies at a year with 0 - 2 teeth. Teeth seem to be so random when they come through. I’d see a dentist if you were concerned but I’m sure everything is fine x

Thanks, as of yet I’m not concerned, if she got to 2 and we didn’t have any more I would be. I was just intrigued as to whether there were many others with such few teeth, most of her friends have a good few, even those who were younger

Most 1 year olds seem to have around 8-ish teeth based on my experience...I would probably see a dentist soon anyway just to get her checked out and used to the environment from a young age then the dentist can have a feel and do an X-ray if needed to reassure you x

I’ve started taking her along to my appointments already and she’s registered. If she doesn’t get any more soon I’ll sort an appointment. I think she is teething, she’s chewing a lot, that’s it but she didn’t seem too bothered by the first two coming through. Thanks for the advice

I wouldn’t be concerned about the number of teeth at this stage, they do erupt at different times but normally in a certain order.

Ideally the first dental check up should be by one year old. There’s more information about this here dentalcheckbyone.co.uk

My youngest got her first two teeth at 9.5 months, the next two came in within a month or so but by 18 months she had 4 on the top and 4 on the bottom all at ther front... but she'd been teething hard all summer and a week or so ago (19 months), I saw 4 molars have worked their way through, 2 on the top and 2 on the bottom, opposite each other so she can finally grind things up. But she's got gaps between her front 8 and now the back ones where she's missing at least 2 teeth on each side, top and bottom.

Teeth are so random! I'm sure your lo will get them eventually but in the meantime just keep giving finger foods so she can rub her gums and maybe get them going a bit!
