I requested a c section when I went to see the consultant at the hospital. They want to make sure you are aware of all the risks and pros and cons of a c section or vaginal birth. If you had a previous c section - emergency like I did you can say you are worried about rupture if you have a vaginal birth. I didn't want my baby at risk and was worried about rupture as then you are both at risk whereas the c section I was putting myself at more risk. You are at risk from thrombosis after the c section but baby is at risk of possibly having breathing difficulties . It is a lot to think about - so Its a good idea to read up about it all and think what is best for you and your baby.

I had an extremely long labour and ended up having an emergency section. I was very anxious the second pregnancy that I might burst open, but ended up having a short labour and easy delivery. Each pregnancy and delivery is different, and you have more choice nowadays so you should be able to have what you want. Talk to your midwife about your concerns so you can make the choice that is best for you.
