Full time student benefits when a single parent

I'm currently thinking of going back to university. I'm a single parent and I've been told by friends and family that when attending uni you lose all benefits? However I've read the gov site and it says I can still claim child tax I just wanted to know if this was true or not?

Go to citizens advice and ask. I have a friend who’s going back, she’s not a single parent but I think that she has some finding as a parent. Yes benefits might stop ordinarily. But being a single parent you might find that you get more help. Ask if you go to an uni open day they might be able to tell you. Good luck it’s definitely a good idea and will help you in the long run

I think you would probably lose your benefits but there are some good finance options for parents who are students, particularly if you are from a low income household. I would go to the student finance website and see what you might be entitled to x

Looks like you’ll still be eligible for a lot of support, such as universal credit

As a single parent you loose income support. You still get housing benefit. You don't pay council tax if your full time. You can apply to the uni for a top up of nursery fees. You still get child tax or universal credit. You can apply for income support through the summer holidays. If you are on universal credit they will adjust amount in summer. I went to uni in england when I had my son.
