4 weeks 6 days ultrasound

This morning I had sharp pains in my right side for maybe 5 minutes? I called the EPU and they called me in for an early scan and blood test. I’ve attached my scan - they said they can’t see anything in the sack as it’s too small... so they can’t rule out miscarriage, blited ovum or ectopic.... or healthy pregnancy!!

Has anyone else had this? Or had a scan so early?

So worried xxx

Hi, I had my first scan at exactly 5w due to a bleed. They were surprised to even see a sac at that stage but they did, all they could see was a sac and something inside it. It’s very early to see anything so having a sac is promising. 2 sets of bloods a couple of days apart will be most useful at this stage to see if the HCG level is rising appropriately x

I had a scan at 5+3 after having bleeding and they could see a sac but no baby. Went back when I was 6 weeks and heartbeat and baby was there. Now 15 weeks - good luck x

Ah thank you, I’m going back on Sunday for another so fingers crossed! Xx

Doubt it's an ectopic your HCG is high for that and there's a sac there.... It's really early so it's normal that they can't see anything! Try not to worry! I had a scan at exactly 6 weeks and the heartbeat was clear xxxxx

I had two early scans, could just make out a heartbeat when I had a scan at 6 weeks, ‘baby’ looked like a sesame seed. Just 4 weeks later there was a proper silhouette of a baby, it’s crazy how quickly they develop

Sharp pains are common in people that have normal pregnancies because the ligaments starting to stretch can feel like this, and you can also get sharp twinges from the ovary that initially released the egg. Usually ectopic pain is more from 7-8 weeks onwards so at this point it’s more likely to be for the first two reasons. Like they said they can’t confirm all is well until they’ve literally seen as much on the scan but I hope that puts your mind at ease a bit x

Plus I had sharp twinges around five weeks that lasted more than five minutes on my right side too, then a couple of days later got them on my other side which actually reassured me more, then all stopped with the sharp pains and I’m now nearly 8 weeks x

Too early to see anything has to over 6w at the earliest I wouldn’t worry a week or two you’ll have a little bean and heartbeat
