12 week scan

Hi, I’m new! I’ve got my 12 week scan tomorrow but I’m now freaking out because my partner seems to have come down with some kind of stomach flu or something....which probably means he won’t be able to attend the scan! So I’ll probably have to go on my own and it might sound a bit silly but it’s kind of upset me because it means we will miss out on a special moment! Also....I don’t know how I’m gonna cope on my own if there’s a problem. I don’t know what to do.....should I try and reschedule the scan?

In terms of re-scheduling if they can fit you in before you are 14 weeks then you may want to so your partner can come. The reason for 14 weeks is if you want to have the testing for Down’s/Edwards and Pataeu syndrome then it needs to be done before then. I’d ring and let them know the circumstances and see what they can do for you, worst case is you have to go alone but if you don’t ask you’ll never know. All the best for your scan x

If you’re not able to reschedule, you could go for a private scan once your partner is feeling better - they cost around £50, and quite nice to break up the long wait til the next scan. Re dealing with it on your own, explain when you get there and I’m sure they’ll be very reassuring and supportive. Good luck with whatever you decide to do

Thank you so much for your advice and input guys! I spoke to my partner this morning about trying to reschedule and he said he didn’t want to do that as could take forever to get another booking. It does look like it’s probably just something upset his stomach rather than anything nasty, he seems to be improving from last night so I think we should be fine. Panic over! Thanks again x x

I would have just made him go even if he’s ill lol it’s only 1/2 hour 5 mins in the room I’m sure he’d manage.

😂 well to be honest I was mainly worried about taking him and his nasty germs into a hospital. But I think he would have other concerning symptoms by now so figured it would be fine x

Scan and tests all done and everything seems normal so far! It was a very surreal experience.....baby going mad and dancing around on my bladder! It wouldn’t keep still for her to take the right picture 😂 it’s so weird to think there is actually a tiny little being in my belly! X x
