Chest clips for car seats

What's people opinions on chest clips? Are they good and are they an important essential?

I've seen a few posts about them but I've never heard of them before. I have a 4 month old and I'm wondering whether i should get one or not.

I think they are an American thing but I could be wrong. I think it’s illegal for the UK to sell car seats with a chest clip but you can chose to buy afterwards. I wouldn’t buy one personally xx

I was told we weren’t allowed them in the uk as it’s classed as a modification and can get you in trouble if you have a accident? I could be totally wrong. But I’m sure there’s something about getting a child out of the car seat in an emergency. And to only use something that comes with the car seat you are using. (My son is almost 6, so it could of all changed, it usually does haha)

I wouldn’t buy one personally if the car seat hasn’t come with one. Due to them not being crash tested with the car seat it won’t be up to the car seat crash test . Also insurance won’t cover damage by a clip if they investigate anything x

Youve probably seen them on US websites, theyre not considered safe in the UK, as you need to be able to get your child out of a seat in one movement, i.e undoing their seatbelt, incase of an accident/fire.
