I never used antibiotics whilst breastfeeding, but my good friend who's a doctor did with both her children as she had mastitis. She was advised to continue breastfeeding.

However, I found this website - might be interesting to read

All best,X

I was on antibiotics after my labour and started to breastfeed on advice of midwives and noticed no adverse effects so should be ok! xx

First of all congratulations your little baby.

I was prescribed antibiotics when my LG was 2 weeks, I can’t remember what they were called now, but the doctor got up in his screen that there was no side affects for breast feeding and were perfectly safe too take.

If they know you are breast feeding, then they would put you on antibiotics that are safe for breast feeding x

I was on antibiotics about 4 times in the first few months of my son's life. For repeated mastitis and endometritis. I did notice he had a gripey tummy and he got bad nappy rash. As soon as the course of tablets was finished his symptoms went away.

It's hard but if you need antibiotics then you have to take them. You need to be healthy for your baby.

Thanks iv noticed he's more on the gripy side since taking the antibiotics I'm hoping once iv finished the course he will be back to his normal self I use sudocrem extra care with each nappy change so hoping he won't get bad rash first 3 days were the worse as I was so unwel but now iv had good two days of taking the antibiotics I'm feeling alittle better still moments of feeling unwel but not as bad thanks for your reply x
