Hi all. Anybody here who’s babies suffer with reflux? My little one spits up constantly during and after feeds, very fidgety during feeds, grunts and wimpers in her sleep at night. Any suggestions on what to do. I am going to ring my gp tomorrow to try and get seen x

My experience of reflux was a baby who projectile vomited after formula and screamed in pain all night long. Literally screamed, not just cried. Was compared to a baby born to a drug addict (by someone I know who worked in SS) and I’ve never touched drugs in my life. It was the hardest few weeks of my life.

I’m not saying you’re wrong as I’ve not seen/heard your baby but I’m not sure you have that much to worry about. It could be colic which isn’t much fun either though.

She’s been diagnosed with silent reflux this morning. X

Glad you have a diagnosis. Having had a quick glance at the next post. We also had a milk allergy. Keep an eye on that too. She might need specific milk (or if your breastfeeding, as I mostly do, you might need to cut out dairy)

How old is your little one? For us reflux went hand in hand with a cows milk protein allergy so you might want to read up about that too. Some babies just have reflux that need treating but for others it signifies a milk allergy which once treated sorts the reflux. If she’s uncomfortable the GP can prescribe gaviscon or Carobel (both thicken the milk, gaviscon in the stomach, Carobel in the bottle, Carobel seems to come with less side effects) and then if that doesn’t help they can give an antacid such as Ranitidine which will stop the acid burning when it does comes up. All the best at the GP x

Thanks been to the gp this morning and she says its silent reflux as she’s pretty happy in herself but does display some of the symptoms. So we’ve got a prescription for some infant gaviscon x

Hi Nicki I can see baby is being treated with infant gaviscon for the reflux. Just wanted to say that reflux itself is usually a symptom of something else, rather than a diagnosis, if that makes sense? Does she have anything else going on - how are nappies? Any skin problems? How is her weight gain and nappy output? Is she breastfeeding or bottle fed? Xx
