Can you get gestational diabetes at 8 weeks ??

I was wondering if anyone could give be a bit of advice I can’t get a doctors appointment till later this week.

I’m finding that if I don’t have anything to eat in about 3-4 hours then I become shakey, I get a headache etc also if I have to much sugar I become really ill like I’m drunk I feel sick I get dizzy the room spins I’ve never suffered with anything like this before,

Really worried I will end up in hospital if these symptoms continue any advice would be greatly appreciated xXx

Yes you can. I was under diabetic care team from 8 weeks as I was symptomatic. Sounds like your getting hypo symptoms when your sugar is low. Keep a banana with you and eat small amounts regularly until you can get a GTT

Mine was controlled through diet, never needed any medication. Had extra growth scans to check all was well which it was and got a pinprick sugar testing kit which I used to keep an eye on things a few times a day. No big deal 😊 do speak to the midwife about the symptoms though as it shouldn’t be ignored. It may flag up in your urine before then xxx

Thank you so much for your reply it has made me feel less like I’m going insane as everywhere online says only between the weeks of 24-28 weeks.

Going to see the gp this evening hopefully will get some help with it as still waiting on my booking in appointment with the midwife.

You could ask them to add a blood test in for that based on symptoms I think it’s called HBCA1 or something like that and it tells you what your sugars been for the last 3 months. X
