Trying again after a missed miscarriage

Hi, unfortunately I discovered we had a failed pregnancy at my 12 week scan and had a medically managed miscarriage the next day. The Dr who saw us mentioned that it's good to wait until after a normal period to try again, so I've been doing some reading. As far as I can find out it seems the main reason for this is that it makes it easier to date the next pregnancy, but I track my ovulation using temperature and lh tests so I imagine that will mitigate that as I could just work out 2 weeks back from ovulation? (Assuming I get pregnant again straight away which is of course not guaranteed!) Has anyone got any experience with this?

I had a surgically managed missed miscarriage last September. I took a test 2 weeks after the procedure to check that it was now negative and that all the pregnancy hormones were gone, which they had. I had a period not long after and then tracked my ovulation from then on. I think it was good to give myself a break after the miscarriage and wait till after my first period before starting trying again to recover from it and get my hormones back on track. I was then lucky enough to get pregnant again by the November. I fell pregnant a lot quicker than I thought I would, I hope the same happens for you too 🤞

Thanks, that's good to hear. I've been told to take a pregnancy test in 3 weeks to check the hormones have gone. We got pregnant quicker than I expected the first time, so hopefully we won't have to wait too long this time either. Going to see how my brain is doing but keen not to wait too long as I'm 36.

Sounds so familiar, I turned 37 in the November so was keen to try again pretty quickly. It was horrid having the miscarriage, but I looked at it as a positive that I had at least got pregnant so knew it could happen again. I'm 31 weeks now and getting bigger every day, best of luck xx

That's great news! Congratulations! Thank you, definitely sounds like a familiar situation! The miscarriage is heartbreaking, but I'm sure we can get there, this one just wasn't meant to be! Xxx

Yeah mostly tell u to wait just for dating up to you if you take the hospital advise or not. I’ve just had unprotected sex as soon as bleeding stopped but never got pregnant I’ve had 3 mc in a row at 12w/13w each. Took me 5 & 3 mths to conceive after mc and currently on cycle 5 af due tomorrow I think I’ll be out tho.

Sometimes it takes a while for u body to get back to normal.

Oh I’m 39 had mc at 37/38

So sorry to hear that, it sounds very stressful! Hope you can conceive again soon and maybe next time will be the one that works for you. Good luck! Xx
