Struggling to eat

Hey I’m about 15weeks pregnant and really struggling to eat. Is this normal? I turn my nose up at everything. Even chocolate and I love chocolate usually. My husband is so worried he’s been trying to do food shops and half of it is just getting wasted. Does anyone have any tips? X

I didn’t enjoy food at all during pregnancy but just made myself eat. I also went off chocolate which I absolutely love xx

Nice to know I’m not the only one. It’s just really frustrating. Trying to eat little and often and healthy stuff too. I’m just worried my babies aren’t getting enough food. Did your appetite come back after the birth? Xx

I just told myself there are people out there who eat far worse than I did although still felt guilty. Appetite and chocolate cravings came straight back after birth xx

I’m glad it comes back just abit unnerving when it’s never been a problem before. Must be all the hormones. X

I definitely went through that. I just let myself eat what I could for a while, however unhealthy, and it eventually passed.

I did find that it was often the thought of certain foods than the actual taste. Try eating little and often. And a pregnancy supplement might put your mind at ease.

If you're like me youll eventually get your appetite back and just want loads of carbs :)

Glad to hear it does pass. Feels like an eternity just now. Think the little and often is helping abit and I’m taking vitamins too. I’ve even been having the odd McDonald’s which I never usually do but I can’t live on happy meals. 🙈

I went through a Greggs phase because it's quick, cheap and easy to eat on the go (I have a toddler too). I'm so glad to say it's passed lol. Try and get in a bit of fruit and salad... it just made me feel less guilty and actually those foods didn't make me queasy.

Maybe I could have a Greggs for my dinner. Lol. Can’t imagine feeling like this and having a toddler too. I’m still trying to mentally prepare myself for twins. At the moment I just can’t plan any meals or big food shops as we end up just wasting it especially fresh fruit and veg. It’s all mini fruit packs from Aldi in our fridge at the mo. X

Yeah my husband hated my cooking in the last trimester with my first. Pasta with pesto, pasta with red pesto, pasta with cheese... I just hated food but needed to feel full.

Once the babies arrive you'll be back to normal! I honestly thought I'd never eat fish again but I did! Although in my second pregnancy I've gone off it again!

My food is very bland just now. Breaded chicken. Plain pasta etc. Not very inspiring. I definitely can’t face fish not even a fish supper. I usually eat everything as well. Husband hasn’t let me do much cooking recently and I don’t blame him. X

Yep! I was a nightmare for my husband 😂 I went off chocolate, my favourite Yorkshire puddings 😱 and a load of other stuff too! For some reason I liked salads 🤪 Lasted until not long after birth and then I sure made up for the lack of chocolate and ate a years worth in the first month 🤣 Try just to eat what you can and what you fancy. The babies are like parasites they’ll take what they need first 😉 x

At least you enjoyed something healthy I’m not enjoying anything right now ☹️ Not even junk food. I just hope they are getting enough. I thought by this time I would have more energy and a better appetite. Can’t wait for my food binge in 5months time! X

I never got a better appetite I’m afraid 😬 Not sure I really got much extra energy either, people totally oversell the second trimester 😂 You will really enjoy the food binge 😀 something to look forward to x

I just put it down to it being two babies and they just take all my energy so I’m not really getting the full benefit of the 2nd trimester. I guess everyone is different as well. Dreading dinner time just now. X

I was nauseous till week 19, I hardly ate anything. Neither put any weight on (only lost some) I think it's very normal for some women...

I hope your appetite will return soon, as I know the feeling: you want to eat but nothing seems appetising enough to actually touch it.

I’m just glad to hear others have been the same and it’s passed eventually or after the birth. Exactly how you describe it. Just frustrating. X

I also suffer from migraines, and they were like for 3 months every week lasting 48h where I could not eat,nor drink - basically dryfasting, but seems that babe is doing good and spot on 50th percentile.

With my first I was nauseous till week 16, when I felt first movements, also ultrasound said it will be a 50th percentile baby, but ended up being only on 9th percentile. Giving birth to such little one was easy, though. But I hope this baby to be born in 50th as I believe that it gives them a better start.

Don't beat yourself up! As you said- eventually you'll get your appetite back! For now - eat anything that you find you can swallow and keep it down! Hugs,x

I’m a migraine sufferer too but they haven’t been too bad. I’ve only had a couple but they can really knock you out for a few days. Hope you don’t get anymore. How far on are you now? X

When I was pregnant with my son I had only 2 migraines in those 9 months of pregnancy.

Now being pregnant with a girl it has been awful journey... Thank god in last month I had only 2 of them.

I am 28w. Yesterday had a glucose test - so surprised that it did not set off a migraine! (Having like a headache - which is bearable)x

Aww thanks. It’s been quite a journey to say the least. I’m extremely grateful to be on here talking about my babies. That’s probably why I’m abit of a worrier when it comes to these things. Over analyse everything 🙈. Weird how your pregnancies have been different. You must be really excited for your new girl to call me along. You’re on the home run now. X fingers crossed no more migraines!

At the start of my pregnancy I was really sick and wouldn't eat anything and around the 20 weeks Mark I started getting my appetite back and again now from I 29 weeks up until now which im 32 weeks my appetite has gone again and in not eating very well. The best thing you can do is drink plenty of your not really eating and drink something with sugar in it aswell or 2 glasses of milk a day you need the nutrition from the milk etc to help the baby

It’s weird how it comes in waves like that. I was never sick in the first trimester but just felt sick all the time. Now I’ve just become an extremely fussy eater. Turning my nose up at everything. Managed abit if my dinner lastnight and toast for breakfast today. I might try a glass of milk in the morning see if that helps. Also have nice fruit juices. Hope your appetite comes back soon as well. X
