TMI warning ( sorry) concerned by frequent bowel movements

Hi everyone.

Sorry to post this but don’t know where else to get advice.

I’m 38 weeks pregnant with my second child ( first one with hubby) I also have endometriosis which caused infertility issues ( had a 7 year struggle) I had 3 surgeries within 13 months & some was on my rectum & finally removed from my rectum by an endometriosis specialist last July. Endometriosis isn’t curable & often comes back, mine grows rapidly.

Anyways for the last week or so I have had frequent bowel movements- I’m literally going 5-8 times a day. And feels like I can’t hold food in for long 2 hours max.

My stomach really hurts before & I feel sick before.

In myself I’m well & I’m not losing weight.

But I do worry if my baby’s getting enough nutrition. Last growth scan she weighed 5lbs 14 oz at 35 weeks & 3 days. My next growth scan is Wednesday & I’m seeing my midwife on Tuesday.

I didn’t have anything like this with my son but I was younger & hadn’t had surgeries.

The endo pain has been back for a few weeks & I don’t know whether it’s that or something else that maybe completely normal in late pregnancy.

I’ve been googling & can’t find anything to explain it.

I’ll speaking to my midwife about it on Tuesday but in between I thought I’d ask if anyone else had experienced this & if it’s normal. ❤️X

Hi Jess, I had my baby on Wednesday and for about 2 weeks beforehand my bowel movements sound similar to yours. I spoke to my midwife and was told it's just the body way of clearing you out ready for labour xx

I was told this is common before labour as well but maybe not to that frequency. I hope your midwife or dr can help.

I’m 40 weeks tomorrow (eek!) and I’ve been having frequent, loose movements and heard it’s a way of clearing you out before labour?! Not sure how accurate that is, but at least you’re not the only one! xx

Thank you.

Isn’t pregnancy glamorous?!!!

My midwife said it might be hormones causing it or labour impending! Or could be my endo scar tissue.

I was told to eat small meals little & often. If it gets to the point I can’t hold fluid down or an vomiting then contact a medic. Then it’s a concern Hope the pregnancy is otherwise going well all the best with birth xoxo

Hey Jess

Sorry to hear you are having this. I understand that before we go into labour our bodies have a good clear out in readiness. It's probably just a natural part of the end of pregnancy. Although I haven't heard of it lasting that long. Definitely get in touch with your midwife and have a chat about it.

Big hugs. And eeeek! 38 weeks!! Not long now xx

Thank you.

I did mention it today & was told unless I couldn’t hold fluids, diarrhoea or vomiting then not to worry just to eat little & often. And baby she said will get everything that she needs. That was my big worry. She said it could be hormones peaking causing it towards the end of pregnancy hormones surge in order to give birth. Or could be the possible uti I have ( raised lymphocytes so sent off to lab) very hard to judge when pregnant!!! Frequent urinating & pressure below as baby heads drops quite normal in later stages!

How is everything going with you? How many weeks are you now? xoxo

Sorry, I replied to this yesterday but it doesn't seem to have sent. All going well here. 33.5 weeks. Time is going so slowly and so fast at the same time haha x

I have my 34 week scan on Monday. Just had my midwife appointment and all seems well. I am desperate to have clear outs and get organised, just have to be patient. I have everything planned, it just doesn't kick off until June. Not long now.

Besides scan on Monday I have family visiting, other family running a marathon etc. Its all go. How about you? X

You have plenty of time left 😊we didn’t start clearing out & finishing the nursery until I was full term!

We are planning on having a quiet one last few have been busy with days out & decorating etc!!! What’s the betting she’ll decide to come then 🤣

Be nice to see family 🙂 Is that a growth scan on Monday? Glad to hear all is going well 💗 I still find it hard to believe I got my miracle 😍 xoxo

I know. Ever closer each day. Yes 34 week growth scan. Got told by midwife today that there is no need to be induced early as all seems ok. She also reckons I have been having Braxton hicks even though I haven't realised. Ha ha x

Hi Jess

Hope all is okay . Could possibly be your bodies way of getting ready for labour x

Thank you.

The midwife said it’s either a possible UTI causing it ( raised white blood cells & blood in urine), hormones gearing up to birth or my endo scar tissue playing up with the pregnancy stains. She said as long as I’m not vomiting & able to keep fluids down not to worry & baby will get everything she needs!

Hope you & the girls are doing well xoxo

Glad all is okay Jess. I’m okay MRI scan and neurology consultant coming up but I’m okay . Alyssa my smallest girl back under paediatric care 😣 had 6 seizures and now not sure what immune disorder she may have and what is going on . Just pushing through with appointments really with her. So stressful chasing it up when it’s your children! . Not long now!! Hang in there soon be time to meet your little bundle of joy 😘 👶 x X

I’m sorry to hear one of your little girls is poorly. I’d be fuming at hospital if they weren’t pulling their finger out! If they are really inefficient go to PALS- they will help you to resolve all issues with the hospital department. I used PALS when I was supposed to get my post surgery appointment within a month but was offered appointment 2 months later- suddenly an appointment became available very quickly!!! I found PALS very efficient & professional they couldn’t have been more helpful. Hope they can help your little girl get better. It’s worse when it’s your own child going through it. Big hugs 🤗 xoxo

Unfortunately there’s a real big waiting list for neurologist with children can only keep phoning up x

I hope you’re starting to feel better. I think I had more frequent bm towards the end. They weren’t as often as yours but definitely more than what I would normally have!

Not long to go though for you! X

Thank you. Glad to hear I’m not the only one. The midwife said if I start to not hold fluid down and or vomit then it’s a concern otherwise baby is getting all she needs which was my concern.

Hope all is well with you? xoxo

I’m good thanks. Little man decided to show up early though and I had him at 35 weeks. Spent a bit of time in the nicu but we are all good and home now and he’s nearly 6 weeks old already! X
