Swollen feet

Hi everyone,

After a failed induction I had my baby boy via c section on Easter Sunday 💙

I’m recovering well, loving every minute with my baby and feel physically fine apart but my feet and ankles are massively swollen- does anyone have any tips on how to reduce the swelling? They weren’t even this bad during my pregnancy, I asked the midwife but she just said it’s normal after a c section.

Hope everyone else is doing well x

Congratulations! 🎉 Again not much help on the feet I’m afraid, probably drink plenty and keep them raised as much as possible. Enjoy your bundle of joy x

Congratulations! My legs and feet swelled really badly a couple of days after my c-section and it lasted just over a week. Just putting your feet up and resting and lots of fluid is all you can do. It will go down. X

Hey. Congratulations. I had my little one on Easter Sunday as well. My whole body had swollen double the size when pregnant. I found elevating my legs above my hips and drinking loads and loads of water helped greatly. Also a little foot massage may help xxx

Mine were like this for a few weeks and eventually just went down on their own x

I had swollen feet a lot during the second half of pregnancy, I waitress and it was so hot last summer so that didn’t help!

I also had a c section and my feet went back to normal within 2 weeks of having my daughter. I know it’s hard not to be concerned but I really wouldn’t worry too much, it will go down, you won’t believe how much you’re whole body slims down in the first couple of weeks as you wee out all the excess fluids. Just drink plenty of clear fluids. X

Mine were the exact same after my c-section bigger than when I was pregnant tbh... it will take s couple of weeks to go down completely and I don’t think the stockings helped and I also think they contributed to it tbh...try to try with your feet up but also try to walk around a bit xx

Congratulations on the birth of you baby. I had CS but no swollen feet. However I believe pp's suggestions on raising your leg is the best, try to walk around your house too, it helps alot. I also believe the compression socks help alot.

I had the same problem( water retention) very swollen thighs first, actually my thighs doubled in size next morning after section. then ankle and feet, so the water from the tummy goes down after C section which is normal, but it should have explained beforehand not to be scared if this happens because this is normal. Just elevate your legs and drink plenty of water, you will pee pee out within a week or so.

Your birth sounds like mine, failed induction, emergency caesarean and massive swelling to feet and legs afterwards. Drink plenty, try to elevate your legs if you can, I know it's difficult after a c section. Do short periods of walking, not too long, about 10 minutes. It took 2 weeks for my legs and feet to go down, I couldn't even fit in any if y shoes and had to borrow some size 9 trainers, I'm normally a size 7! Hope you recover soon x

Congratulations on the birth of your new baby boy x
