During my labour with my 1st child I had a 3rd degree tear. my partner is thinking about more kids in the future and I'm worried about whether I would tear again? If I was to have more children.

Not wanting another kid for atleast 5 years but just cant help but worry about tearing again if I do have more.🤦‍♀️

Tearing once doesn't mean it will happen again. It did for me though. I had 3rd degree with my first 5 years ago, then 8months ago when I had my second I suffered another tear but no where near as bad as the first time. It healed well and hasn't given me any problems x

I had a 3rd degree tear with my 1st 3 year ago. With my second (1.5 years ago) had a much smaller tear that midwife stitched there and then. I was out and about straight away, only stayed in the hospital for 5hours.

I was offered a c section for my second but told the chance of having another 3rd degree tear was about 5% so didnt think it was worth having a c section for.

I had a second degree tear with my first 9 years ago I didn’t tear with my second and I am pregnant with my third due in 3 weeks so you never know what will happen

I tore and was cut with my first stitches inside and out was awful my second had none was a much easier birth.

I got cut with my first, tore with my second... I’ve just had my third and neither got cut nor tore.

No3 was an induced labour and a lot more controlled than the first two so that may have had to do with it.

BUT I used a perineal oil from 34 weeks. It’s supposed to make your skin in that area more stretchy and able to deal better during birth. Not sure whether that did the trick but I’d certainly recommend it! The one I had was the perineal oil from Weleda. Maybe look into something like that?

I did the oil every morning - evening. Light stretching - just wanted to be prepared, still got 2nd degree. But- I did not even feel it. I was up and running and no discomfort.

My friend had a 3rd degree tear and asked for a c-section the next time so she avoided any risk of tears x
