Weight gain after successful IVF and only 10 weeks?

Hi ladies,

I had a successful FET back in January. I'm currently 9+6 weeks and I've been on Progesterone pessaries for about 7 weeks. I'm definitely carrying more weight in my abdomen, but it's all quite squishy, so I don't think it's a baby bump. I haven't weighed myself, so I couldn't say exactly how much I've gained, but I can't button any of my jeans, my jacket barely zips up and I'm already using a belly band. I think I need to get some maternity clothes.

I doubt my eating could be responsible for the weight gain. Maybe it's from the Progesterone? I don't really care about how I look, I'm just a little worried I'm putting on too much weight so early in my pregnancy. This is my first pregnancy, so I have no idea what's normal for my body. Has this happened to any of you ladies?

Thank you in advance for your comments. xx

Hi Foodie23, don’t worry it’s the progesterone! I had the same problem from 6 weeks pregnant. I stopped the progesterone at 10weeks and stomache shrank quickly. I’m only 13 weeks tomorrow and I’m now getting a bump again (we are having twins) but it’s still smaller than when I was taking progesterone 🙈. Huge congratulations on your pregnancy xx

Probably a combination of progesterone and normal pregnancy, my jeans were getting tight by then and by my scan at 12 weeks I had the top button undone and was already starting to ‘show’ so to one observant individual at work my announcement didn’t come as a shock 😉 I didn’t put on too much weight (just over a stone I think) so try not to worry, and you’ll love maternity trousers......sooooooo comfy! x

It was the same for me and I blame the progesterone, it got better when I stopped taking it around week 11. Don’t worry!

Same for me too... the progesterone made me so bloated and I looked pregnant very early on... as soon as I stopped I returned to normal but then obviously along cane bump... it’s all the hormones xx

Agree with the ladies, the progesterone doesn’t help. It does settle once you stop using it. Congratulations xx
