Hello yummy mummies :)

I'm worried my baby is not getting enough milk he used to have milk 4 times a day however since weaning he has started taking less milk ,- 3 feeds a day without dinner . I don't want to give him much solids at dinner as he won't have much milk and is already one feed down

I tend to feed him baby rice or porridge in morning tin pot at lunch

How old is your little one? When do you offer milk? And how much milk does he have each feed (assuming he's bottle fed) I tend to offer before I feed my little one his actual meal & leave it roughly half hour x

At breakfast at 8 or 8.30 offer after feeding porridge or rice at lunch at 12 I offer half an hour after feeding I aim to wait at least an hour but he wants it sooner' 5 ish he has another feed and that's it , hes full from food so has reduced milk . Hes 6 and half months

I might try giving milk first too :)

Possibly porridge is over filling? Try som veggies? My little one is same age & loves sweet potato, carrots, avocado etc. Personally I do think that baby knows best a lot of the time so will do what's right for him x

You could try baby led weaning instead of spoon feeding?

I breast feed so it can seem all over the place to be honest. He feeds from me at around 7:30. Breakfast between 8:30 & 9:30 (school run dependant) then feed & a nap by 10:30. After that the timings are any ones guess 😂

They are supposed to drop milk feeds as you get going with solids. As long as he isn't waking in the night hungry is there any problem?

He will be getting calcium from the solids so dont fret on him dropping a milk feed. It's not about number of feeds but how much oz he's getting a day.

Talk with your health visitor about it, as long as he's putting on weight it shouldn't be an issue

From experience hun it’s totally normal for them to cut back on milk from time to time, they say as long as they are having on average 15 ounces of milk a day so if it’s a 5 ounce bottle three times a day it’s perfectly fine! If your that concerned speak to your health visitor hun

But I would maybe start weaning all your three meals it seems to me like baby after more food as he’s getting sick of the milk, could be a sign that he’s ready for more solids

Hope this helps hun xx

No worries hun, yeah I was like that panicking when my daughter stopped taking hers, I was told that, but it might be a little more or a little less depending on what midwife/ doctor is explaining it to you, but yeah we really need to be given more information on these things instead of panicking at last minute and trying find the correct info lol, if your still worrying though speak to gp/hv xx

One more thing is if baby is having less and not having required amount of milk for vitamins, a company called well baby do some drops that are from 6 months onwards and can be added to milk/ yoghurts etc and will give baby the vitamins needed, but again speak to GP or health visitor to make sure that the way to go if not, maybe offer juice/cook boiled water too if still won’t take milk at least baby be having enough fluids, I had give my daughter pure apple/orange juice at that age due to really bad constipation too xx
