Blocked milk duct?!

Right so I’ll start with the basics, my Son is almost 5 months old he was born with a severe tongue tie that was snipped when he was just a week old. Feeding up to that point was agony but I stuck with it and he still put weight on so that was fantastic to hear. By a month old he was feeding with no pain or problems..

Fast forward to yesterday when feeding from the left side was causing me a bit of pain but I thought he was just latched a bit funny as he’s got a cold and is fussing... it hurt everytime he fed from that side and it became painful to touch. It feels like the whole segment is hard and hot...

All last night I’ve been pumping, massaging, a hot shower, I even used a (sorry tmi) mini vibrator to try to massage it out!

It hurts so much but I know if I leave it it might get worse...

I’m still feeding (mainly from that side) to try to get it out but it hurts so much now I don’t know what to do

> I don’t fancy grating potato or freezing cabbage to stick in my bra but at this point anything would help!

>>I’m not feeling well as I’ve recently recovered from the flu so I’m not 100% anyway

I would go to the doctors to be sure it's not mastitis or milk fever as that can make you very ill. Maybe use what you've pumped to feed your son for now or in even formula if needed. I've been told to watch out for these as apparently my nan got it very badly- my mum didn't breast feed but knows I want to when Little one lands in March. Hope you feel better. X

I would definitely go to the doctors as it sounds like mastitis. You are doing all the right things by massaging and feeding your baby from that side.

Don't stop feeding at this point as it could make it a lot worse. Keep offering the left side first and see a doctor when you can.

I feel for you! I had mastitis 3 times in the first month before we realised my son had a tongue tie.
