Feeling so rough

Hi all

I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice. I’m feeling awful, drained sickness but no sick. I’m 7 weeks pregnant tomorrow. I’ve had two pregnancies before naturally. This pregnancy is through icsi. I’ve never felt this rough through pregnancy before. I don’t have any energy. I’m finding it hard to eat and when I do I just wanna be sick but there’s no sick. I feel drained from head to toe. I’m drinking lots of water but like I say eating isn’t my best hobby. I’m constantly sleeping for long periods of time. Is this normal? I had two boys before this pregnancy. Could this be a girl hence why I’m feeling so rough?

It may sound odd but I was recommended one of those travel sickness bands. I wear one on each wrist when the sickness comes on and swear on my life it goes after 10 mins..I'm 16 weeks no sickness just felt it but my bands are my lifeline x

It could be the IVF meds you're on causing more side effects

Obviously when you are pregnant naturally your body produces more of its own hormones

Hopefully it will pass after 12 weeks x

So lovely to see you here hon and I'm sorry to hear you're feeling so poorly :(

The tip about the travel bands sounds good, I used to use them for travel sickness when I was a kid and they really worked so let us know how you get on.

Hope you're feeling better soon xxx

Girls do produce more hormones that cause sickness. I was so so rough. I ended up in the doctors several times for different anti sickness meds. Just the feeling of feeling sick is debilitating in itself. I so feel for you. I had it so rough. Avoid ginger at all costs despite what everyone tells you. My go to was salt and vinegar crisps and diet coke to subside the sickness. Find whatever works for you....it'll be trial and error initially and through process of illumination. As soon as I got to 12 weeks I felt amazing despite reading all manner of forums saying they had sickness all the way through. Stay strong. Sending all the love xxx

Hi ladies.

I’ve bought some sickness bands which do work but not 100%. I ended up at the doctors yesterday coz it just got too much. Every time I eat I’m sick, smelling meat makes me heave and sick sometimes. The only thing that does work is not eating and drinking plenty of water.

Thank you though ladies xxx

Did the doctor mention vit b6? It's often prescribed for sickness in early pregnancy

Might be worth a try x

Sounds exactly like my pregnancy. Every pregnancy is different. Just try to get as much sleep as you can and eat whatever you can fancy x

Oh definitely is different every time. But my goodness this is awful atm. I find myself burping after every meal. I’m hoping it’s just the pessaries and will die down once I stop them in five weeks and counting lol xx

I had this in the first part of my pregnancy.... I was getting so sick and drained I ended up going to the doctors and they give me sickness tablets and they helped so much.... im mow 36 weeks and not been sick since then.... ive heard about the travel sickness bands and eveyone swears buy them.... so I would give them ago or try the tablets....

Hi hun I went docs and got some tablets. I don’t like taking tablets so I’m avoiding them as much as I can. I’ve got the bands also. They help but not all the time. Thank you x

I have been like this for 6 weeks now and it’s been none stop. Most days I’m sick a couple of times a day, I have zero appetite and have found it challenge to keep water down as I feel this often triggers me to being sick.

I have been quite worried at times but every book I have read it’s all normal. This is my first pregnancy and I literally can’t believe how awful the first 12 weeks are.

I did try acupuncture for a few sessions which help subside the feelings and physical sickness. I have those bands too which are acupressure but they haven’t really worked for me.

I’d advice eating whatever you like when you can and not feeling guilty about that even that means it’s ice cream for dinner. I couldn’t look at a cracker after two days despite ALL advice being to eat crackers. It’s all rubbish and only you know how you feel.

One thing I did find helped for a short while was lemon in icy water. Apparently the lemon acid keeps the stomach acid down which makes you sick. Try this until you can bear lemon water anymore!

Good luck.

I was feeling nauseous from week 8-16 (when baby's first movements were noticed) I was in bed those weeks - felt sooo rough- all smells annoyed me so much - ended up not eating much, lost some weight, could not stand sweets nor biscuits- ate lots of meet&veg.

However, the rest of the pregnancy was a breeze!

Each pregnancy can be different - just hang in there, stay positive, it will pass (at some point) and it will be worth it!

Big hugs!x
