2nd trimester insomnia

I’m currently 22 weeks and for the past 7 I seem to be able to fall asleep but I’m averaging 2 hours a night, then I’m wide awake. Tried hot milk, relaxation etc but nothing is working. I’m actually dreading going to bed at night now.

I got like this from about 32 weeks and even after baby still light sleeper. Wish could offer you some advice. Maybe it's your bodies way of preparing us for the late nights we will have when baby arrives?

It is very common in pregnancy. Sorry can't be of help. Would be interesting to see what others have to say...

I'll be 19wks on Monday and the last week I've been exactly the same. Nothing seems to work and I feel exhausted all day and frustrated I still can't fall asleep at night. It's obviously something that just happens. Like when your exhausted in the 1st trimester, your full of energy in the second X

It’s very frustrating isn’t it. Last night I fell asleep from 19.30 until 21.30, up for a few hours then back to sleep at midnight and then up every hour or so. Never fallen asleep so early before but I think I’m utterly exhausted. So glad I’m off work now for the holidays. Thanks for your reply and for letting me know that’s it’s not just me!x

I completely understand. Iv not too long had my baby but I remember not being able to sleep well at all. It drove me crazy because I felt so sick and all I wanted was a good night sleep. But I tried to do my own aromatherapy and relaxation sessions. So I got loads of candles and scents and lit them in a room and turned the lights of with the scents. So I started the evening with a nice hot bubble bath and a cup if tea. Then after my bath i would go in the room the just sit or lay there for 1 hour and just relax. Or I would listen to relaxation music . I was surprised how well it work. It made such a difference. Give it a try. If you do let me no how you get on x x

Yes same here. Been like this since I was prob 16 weeks, I have the added stress of my father dying he has been given 4 weeks to live last week...

I go to sleep but wake about 2.30 am wide awake. Strange thing is that I’m not tired though, I feel nature is trying to get me used to being a mummy with the night feeds etc!

Aw I’m sorry to hear about your Dad. My thoughts are with you😞. I think it is nature but I wish it would go away for a while as I expect I’ll have no sleep for the rest of my life😂.x
