Cant shake the worrying - how can you tell the baby is okay?

Hi Ladies!

i am now at 11 weeks pregnant, I've not yet received my dating scan appointment letter so i know it will be closer to the 13-14 week mark that i have this. the last scan i had at 7 weeks showed a properly sized baby with a heartbeat and no complications, but that was ages ago! I cant shake the worrisome feeling, mainly because (i know, its so wrong to google!) of things i read about missed miscarriages at this stage.

I have never had sore boobs but my nausea has been really bad since the beginning and hasn't gone away but has gotten slightly better in the last week (and by better i mean i am able to eat more than plain crackers and apples!). i also have tugging feelings in my tummy and thy sometimes get quite sore, never excruciating but moderately painful. ive had spotting at week 7 but since then no spotting or bleeding.

How do you know if the baby is okay? do you guys think it would be a good idea to go for a private scan in the interim and how on earth do i ease the worrying?

I could’ve written this post myself!!! I have found myself doing the same. I spent so long not believing it would happen that it is hard believe it’s happened!!!

I’ve also had a reassuring scan at 10 weeks 2 days due to spotting. Like you baby measuring fine & all normal but I still find myself worrying.

I’m 12 weeks on Sunday- very close to your dates.

I am assuming you were referred at your booking appointment- I was told to chase it up if I hadn’t heard within 2 weeks. Perhaps you could find out when your scan is?

Based on that, perhaps you get a reassurance scan in between privately. If you feel that would ease your mind do it. 😘

All the best with your pregnancy xoxo

Ho

You should have had a date for the booking scan i would chase it up. Im 10 + 3 and my letter came through last week for Tuesday 20th. Good luck. Hoping everything goes well for you. Dont give up hope xxx

You don’t know for sure and it’s very hard to ease the worrying but you still have symptoms and that’s a good sign. Remember that tiredness is a symptom too.

You can get private scans quite cheaply (they are often on google etc) but obviously this will only reassure you for a short period of time so only you can decide if it is worth the money. I had scans at 8, 10 and 13 weeks and that kept me going.

I know it's so hard isn't it, especially after spotting or bleeding during pregnancy. You just cannot ever stop worrying. I'm sorry my story is not reassuring unfortunately. My pregnancy ended at 12 weeks unfortunately after having an MVA because I couldn't just wait for the natural miscarriage to happen, the fetus stopped growing at 8 weeks and no signs I miscarried whatsoever, I bled little without cramps 3 days to my first appt scan of 12 weeks and I immediately knew something wasn't right. As I had 3 successful pregnancies and I never had bleeding in all of them. What I'm trying to say is unfortunately if a pregnancy doesn't have a chance it will eventually end no matter what and in other cases even with a heavy bleed you could carry it to term. Unfortunately you can't tell if a pregnancy has gone wrong without passing the pregnancy tissues, but a scan can. I pray you do have a successful pregnancy and try your best to not worry, I know it's hard. Stay blessed.

I’m in the same boat, at 9 weeks pregnant!! Had a scan at 8 weeks which was fine but now having to wait until 12 weeks feels like torture! How did your scan go? X

It went totally fine, after the 12 week scan i saw everything was okay and all the anxiety has melted away, so hopefully yours will as well! Now at 20 weeks and happy and healthy. I think its just hitting that milestone that makes a massive difference - good luck! Youll be alright xx
