Almost 30 weeks - Sharp nipping/stabbing low down

Hi all

I’ll be 30 weeks on Sunday. Today I’ve been having lots of weird pain in the vaginal area - cervix, vagina? - not sure but down there. It’s like being stabbed or poked with a knife or the tip of sharp object. Does anyone know what this is? It’s so weird and very uncomfortable. I’ve tried making the baby move but it doesn’t work. I think it’s lying breach going by the feeling of he/she doing tandem punches/kicks to each side of my belly, so I don’t think it’s he/she’s head down causing it.

Anyone else?

I’ve had loads of this (3rd time round) in the last 5 weeks or so (currently 40+10). Midwife says it’s good because the baby is putting lots of pressure on cervix but it feels like i’m being head butted in the vagina and the sharp pain can take my breath away. Hope you don’t have as long to wait as me xx

Gosh you are quite overdue aren’t you. Will they take you in to start you off soon? It’s good to know this pain/discomfort is normal as this is my first baby. Good luck for your birth xx

I'm not sure what it is Hun but I also had this. It's not nice at all! Mine did ease off at around 34 weeks. Not sure if like you say it's to do with how the baby is lying but my baby was breech at my 28 & 32 week growth scans then head down at the 34 week scan. Hope it eases off for you soon. X

Ours was head down at 28 week scan. Only started with this feeling yesterday so maybe as they are bigger now it has an impact on cervix when they are head down. Just glad to hear it’s not just me! Good luck to you! xx

Hi I'm 32 weeks exactly today and I've complained about these pains to my midwife and she said it was the baby either kicking or nutting my cervix. (On closer inspection he's head down so is nutting it). I'm hoping this means I won't go over.

Good to know - thanks for your reply! x

I’ve heard this called “fanny daggers”. No advice, I just thought it was quite funny! Hope it eases off soon though as I’m sure the reality is not funny at all.

Yeah I had that in the last trimester. The midwife said it was the baby’s skull grinding on my pelvis. Nice! I also just wanted to say how bloody delighted I am to see that you have your miracle baby. I think we both had treatment around the same time and I’m just so glad to see that it’s finally worked xxx

Hello Sarahmanc, I recognised you soon as I saw your reply! How old is your wee one now? This is my 4th IVF and we ended up using donor eggs. Got there eventually 😬 xxx
