Is it ok to take Prochlorperazine during 1st trimester

Hello everybody. I am 10 weeks pregnant and have been suffering very bad vomiting, especially from this week. Doctor has prescribed me the Prochlorperazine as anti-sickness tablets to reduce my vomiting and nauseas. Read instructions and googled it, it worries me a little bit. So I am wondering if any Mums here have tried this tablet and is it safe me to take it? I just don’t want to harm my baby. But I am sure doctor wouldn’t give me this medicine unless they are completely sure it is safe to use. Any advice helps. Many Thanks. FeiFei x

Morning sickness is the worst! There is always some risk as they don't test medication on pregnant women. But there is no evidence anti sickness tablets harm the baby. Iv been taking ondansatrone for sickness and I'm 25 weeks and still have nausea and vomiting and everything looks ok with Baby. I'm a nurse and work on EPAU and we give anti sickness meds a lot and I know plenty of women whkhave had healthy babies after taking them. I hope this reassures you a little. I Know its hard but at least you will be able to get some nutrition which you and the baby need xx

Hi I can totally feel your pain. My morning sickness this time round was a nightmare. I'm expecting baby number 3 I was firstly prescribed the same anti sickness as you but they didn't work (sorry) I spoke to my doctor who then gave me cyclizine which worked wonders.

If you are unsure you are right to question if it's safe.

I've been on codine for an underlying issues with my ovaries for 2year and when the doctor told me to stay on it I asked for a second opinion and also spoke to some pharmacists and my midwife. So the best advice I can give would be to speak to some sort of medical profession for some peace of mind.

I'm now nearly 29weeks pregnant and have only slight sickness every so often and don't need medication now.
