Just started a new job and found I’m pregnant!

I’ve just started a new job working for the nhs 111 service. Just finished my training! And I’ve found out I’m pregnant... does anyone know what rights I have? My probation is 6months long, and I’m just really worried about what they will do!

Any advice is very much appreciated

You don't have to tell your employer that you're pregnant until 15 weeks before your due date.

I work in the NHS so I know about maternity pay (I'm currently on Mat leave). You'll only receive statutory mat pay as you've not been working for the NHS for long enough. Statutory works out around 560 per month.

They can't let you go because you're pregnant hun, they're not allowed xx

I was always led to believe if you’ve been employed by them constantly for 26 weeks you’ll get maternityx congratulations Hun x

You have to have worked for the nhs for a full year and the trust for 26 consecutive weeks by 15 weeks before your due date to get full mat pay, otherwise it’s statutory I think. They can’t discriminate against you in your probation period for being pregnant though - that is illegal! Try not to stress about it, these things happen a lot

Congrats!

You're.unlikely to qualify for full mat leave but what you should do is get a copy of your family policy which goes through all your rights etc.

I would imagine you're mainly working over a phone line? If not you probably should be letting your manager know earlier.due to risk assessment. I worked in a&e in my first pregnancy so avoided infectious and violent patients.

Also as mentioned they can not fire you for being pregnant.
