Solid food

Hello,

My baby girl started solids at 6 months. She was so eager and excited to try foods for about 2 weeks. Of course there were foods that she wasn’t sure of... but for last one week, she just doesn’t want to open her mouth. Even when I try to give her the foods she liked, she just doesn’t want to eat. Any tips how I can get her to eat again? Thank you!

My little girl was like this and turns out she had a cold brewing and also teething. I stopped food for about a week and then restarted and she went back to enjoying it like before xx

She’s got her bottom two teeth and I just noticed her top tooth was coming in. I will stop feeding her for a few days and see if she wants to eat again. Thank you!

I'm going through something similar and loads of people have suggested it could be because of teething. There are definitely some rosey cheeks and inflamed gums, so I think they're right. Could be this for your little one.

I just noticed her another tooth was coming in. I didn’t notice since she’s not showing signs of teething like she did for her first two teeth. So that could be it. Thank you!

She might be teething. As my wee boy was like that too. Try ask your health visitor what to give her. She'll recommend some vitamin drops to give your baby

My LG wasn’t keen on food when I started weaning at 6 months so I tried BLW and now she loves her food. It took a month and a half to get her to feed herself finger foods. Now she loves anything I put in front of her. As others have suggested, it could also be her teeth.

I did some research on BLW when she started to refuse foods. I am a bit scared that she might choke.. As I just noticed she was teething that could be why she doesn’t want to eat. Thank you for the advice!

They are unlikely choke to be fair. Yes they will gag on food but that's normal the rule of thumb is I'd you can hear them gagging then don't panic. Gagging is different to choking and is normal as they aren't used to it. But if they are making noise air can get through if you can see them choking and they aren't making noise then they are definately choking . Most babies will sort themselves out if they are just gagging.

It's just a case if not leaving them alone with blw

Food before 1 is mainly for fun. Offer different foods at different times of the day. Baby led weaning is really good too, but don't stress about it, milk should still be her main source of nutrition up to the year mark, and that can be even longer if she is breastfed.
