Miscarriage at 15 weeks 6 days

Last Sunday evening I wasn't feeling great. I kept waking up in the middle of the night going to the toilet and I was leaking water, i felt like I wanted to pass wind, but in hindsight I think it was related to cramps (i didn't realise that was what i was experiencing). In the morning I noticed a bit of yellow discharge and could feel pressure down below.

I felt concerned and went to the early pregnancy unit on Monday morning. They checked for a heart beat and couldn't hear one. Then they examined me below and told me I was in the middle of a miscarriage. The baby naturally passed short after but then i closed up and they had to operate on me to remove the placenta. We chose not to see the baby or find out gender, for me it would have hurt too much.

Was all a huge shock. There was no blood before I went in and I didn't think I was going to miscarry and I had my 16 week appointment later that day.

I am going to have tests carried out in 2-3 months to investigate any potential reasons. Also having a post mortum on baby.

I have found these forums useful during my pregnancy so just wanted to share and will update on what I find out.

Wishing all of you that are pregnant a healthy pregnancy. Xxx

My prayers are with you! Hugs and kisses to you! I would like to share a story!

A friend of mine told me she was about 26 weeks pregnant and miscarried! She said she was holding the baby crying uncontrollably! She said the doctor said snap out of it! Your only 25 years old go home and have sex you'll have another baby! She said that's what she did and within 1 year she had given birth to a new baby!

God sees, he hears and he delivers! Keep on trying sweetie ❤️💚💕💜💙💛

Thanks for sharing and for your prayers. At 26 weeks that would have been a still born birth.

We have been told not to try until after they carry out further investigations, so about 3 months. We are older, 38 and this is my second miscarriage. The first one was when I was 37, a missed miscarriage so only 6 weeks but picked up at my 12 week scan. Surprised at the doctors response to your friend. I know that she was young but everyone was so kind and supportive to me at the hospital. When I was coming back after the op there was someone holding my hand. I assumed that was because of how sudden it was and that this is classified as a late miscarriage. She rushed me back to my husband quickly because I was crying. I was amazed at how supportive everyone was.

Everyone has such different experiences.

I agree with you that it is important to keep the faith.

My husband has been so wonderful and stayed with me all of last week, making sure that I was OK. Makes me realise how amazing he is. I am beginning to feel better now, coming to terms with it, spending less time in bed and trying to do the things that make me calm and appreciative of life (like running in the hills).

I misscarried once hun. I sincerely sympathise with you. I had the DNC afterwards as I had blood clots blocking my uterus and had hemoradged. I was upset even at 12 weeks. The heartbeat stopped at 10 weeks. The contractions were still there tho. And I’m sorry for you. I was 33 then. I’m O Resus Neg . Ok hun. Tc xxx

Just as an update. I had lots of tests done and a post mortum on baby. Findings are that it was likely to be cervical incompetence however my baby had an infection so they are not 100% sure whether that was as a result of cervical incompetence or the infection caused my cervix to open early. If I get pregnant again I will be monitored more and I may have a cervical stitch at about 14 weeks. I also have PCOS, i already knew about this, but I have been prescribed metformin for this. Other things such as as thyroid, blood clothing, genetics seemed to be as expected.

4 months on we can finally start trying again now, so fingers crossed for us and well wishes for everyone else.
