Reducing breastfeeding on return to work

Hi, just looking for some advice please. My baby is nearly 1 and I’m due to return to work at the end of next month. He eats plenty of solids and still breastfeeds quite a few times through the day (not sure how much just on demand) he also wakes at least twice for a feed at night. If I’m not there he just eats solids and drinks water but I’m struggling to cut down the feeds when I’m there because he gets very upset if I don’t feed him. I’m hoping to start him on cows milk during the day once he turns 1 but that’ll be after I start back. Any advice appreciated. Thanks

hi, do you have, or could you use expressed milk? If not, his carer could give him some formula to replace the feeds when you're not there till he's 1? What hours will you be doing? I did kit days when my LO was 1 and I'd finish at 3 and get back and feed him. Then he'd feed again before bed and usually early morning before i went to work, when i went back fully he was 15 months and only feeding before bed so a lot easier. also, you have rights to express and feed at work if you live close and someone could bring him in? How long till he's 1? Xx

Hi thanks for reply He’ll be one the day before I start. I’ll be dropping him at nursery at 0730 and back home by 5pm. 3 days a week. I’d rather not express during the day just so I don’t get uncomfortably full when I’m away for extended periods at work or elsewhere. I know i’m entitled to express at work etc but I think it would just stress me out. I’m hoping to keep up feed when I’m with him was just wondering how realistic that was.

How long between youstarting and him turning one. We started both our kids just before one on cows milk as I refused to buy more formula when on my a 3rd of it would get used.

Thanks for reply. He turns 1 the day before I start. I was wondering about starting the cows milk a little bit earlier what age were your little ones when you gave them cows milk?

My eldest was 2 weeks off being one and my youngest was nearly 3 weeks. A week or so before he turns one won't make a difference. We started introducing it on their cereal about a month before they turned one as they were already having dairy products anyway.

Aw great thanks. He’s been eating yoghurt cheese and porridge with milk so fingers crossed he’ll be fine with drinking it.

He should be just start with small amounts. I recommend googling 360 degree drinking cups you can get them on Amazon cheap enough we use them all time for our youngest as they are none spill but start teaching them basics for using a cup
