Is it safe to have surgery under local anesthetic while 7-8 weeks pregnant? I also will be getting morphine for pain straight after surgery.

You need to tell the surgeon/team doing the operation that you’re pregnant, they can tell you then if it’s safe. If it’s not an emergency I’d have thought they’d delay it til after baby is here. Have you had a pre op appointment?

No pre op appointment yet. I’m currently waiting for that. But this operation needs to be done asap. Not something that can wait- otherwise it will get worse.

I would call them and just say, they can decide risk/benefits Then as appropriate.

Local anaesthetic should not be a problem but you need to discuss with your treating doctor. However i find it strange that you need morphine for something that can be done under local anaesthetic.

The type of op. Matters too. So make sure you discuss beforehand. I would have thought if it was an asap op you would have seen the doctor who decided you need this op at least.

So sorry. I meant general anaesthetic 🙈

it’s just a matter of getting the op done before the condition gets worse

Ive has this procedure done 2 times before and I really do need the morphine. My question is is it safe for the baby as well as the general anaesthetic

General anaesthetic is a different matter as it associated to possible miscarriage... so def needs to be discussed with your doctor and anaesthetic team
