Vitamin A? Please tell me have I done the wrong thing?

Have been thinking about TTC, then TTC, then had a miscarriage and back to TTC in the last 2 years. All the way through I've been taking a standard multivitamin and mineral tablet as it seemed to have everything in it, including folic acid.

Then for some reason I read the small print yesterday and it says not to take it if you're likely to become pregnant, trying to become pregnant or are pregnant!!

I think it's the vitamin A bit that's next to the negative comment. How big a worry is having too much vitamin A? I think I have a varied diet, don't each liver or pate (maybe twice a year) but have I been risking harming any possible foetus? (Can't even let myself wonder whether this impacted the miscarriage) What if I'm pregnant now and have been taking them all that time? :o(

Desperate for answers but the NHS is vague and says speak to your GP.

Hello my lovely , sorry about your previous miscarriages , I know how upsetting it can be and trying to conceive afterwards.

After I had my miscarriage I decided to just take one folic acid a day and vitamin D as I have to take vitamin D anyway as I’m deficient in that suffer with it being low. But before I caught again I was taking naproxen for my back and realised that cam effect me getting pregnant too so stopped all pain relief too and had paracetamol only if I had to then charted my period and now I’m 3 months pregnant! I’ve had to cut vitamin D down to 10ml a day too but that’s all the tabs you need xx

Thankyou! Just when you think you're getting over the self blame a new thing pops up eh!? Been a really tough time and just want to give everything the absolute best chance. I've already taken your advice and been and bought a specific Folic acid and Vitamin D pre-pregnancy tablet, so I'll get started with that. Sending love and best wishes for your pregnancy, hopefully you're at that lovely bit where you can tell everyone, thanks for taking the time to reply xx

I have my scan tomorrow morning so I shall know the dates etc , last year I went for my scan at 13 weeks and found out my twins stopped growing and no heart beat was found, so I’m abit anxious about tomorrow morning.

Aw I’m glad you got the vitamins hun I thought I wouldn’t get pregnant as time was ticking and I’m 35 now too so thought my time was ticking! Just enjoy the bedroom department and relax and if it hasn’t happened yet it will do very soon xx

You’re nearly there now, I’ll bet the wait has been unbearable, well done you on keeping it together and I’m sure this one will be the happy scan you want it to be, I’ll think about you tomorrow 😘

Aw your very welcome and thank you so much 😊, I’ve had nightmares about it but I know it’s not in my hands as long as I do my best and relax and look after myself that’s all I can do. I will let you know how it goes tomorrow, you take it easy as your time will come soon enough and you will have your rainbow 🌈 baby! It’s horrible having those scans and the bad news that follows! I wish you the very best xx
