Period after baby

Hi I would like to know how soon mums had a period after giving birth. I'm 6 months postnatal and not yet had a period. I'm not using hormone contraceptives and still breastfeeding.

With my first it was around 9 months post delivery.

14 months when I stopped breastfeeding... everyone is different ... however if you do have sex do use contraception as the lactation method is only good until baby starts to wean as efficacy goes down significantly

Thanks I know, I wouldn't use lactation as a method of contraception x

It totally varies from person to person. I know of mum's who got theirs back at 6 weeks whilst exclusively breast feeding, I'm a little over 6 months and still not had it back.

Best bet is to always be prepared, keep a cup/ pad/ tampon in your change bag with some feminine wipes and maybe a spare pair of pants and just enjoy being period free until it happens!

Well, I'm one of those :(( My periods came back after just 6 weeks post delivery and exclusively breastfeeding...Very frustrating with a 10 weeks old baby and feels like when breastfeed him,I'm having some bad cramps and pain ☹ Again..every body is soo different..

Mine came back after 5 months. My baby girl is nearly 6 months and I am breastfeeding her. It does vary. I’ve heard some mums say over two years! X

6 months whilst exclusively breastfeeding for me... And HEAVY!! I had very light periods before and wasn't prepared at all!! They're better now though (8 months down the line) x

Hi i got my period one year after and my doc said it was normal...was breastfeeding as well and doc said that may have most likely contributed to it...dont worry..
