I had poly and had all the tests to determine the cause - which all came back clear. Surprisingly, my bump never seemed too big or felt like there was too much fluid. The positives are you get extra scans!

I was induced at 39 weeks as there are risks if you go in to labour or if your waters break outside of hospital. My labour wasn't what I hoped for - but I could feel the extra fluid by then! I ended up going to theatre for a spinal and a forcep delivery. I still haven't fully recovered and need to return to hospital for a small procedure.

In all honesty, if I knew now that there was a choice in having an induction I might have considered declining. But you have to trust your medical team. I now have a very healthy 7 month old!

Thanks Sophie for your reply. We’re you given the option of a C section? If so, would you have taken it?

Can you remember what your Amniotic Fluid Index at 28 weeks? Mine is 32cm

I go back Monday to start the tests. It is a really worrying time isn’t it.

Worried about birth defects, but they tell me the baby’s measurements etc look good on the ultrasound scans.

No a C section wasn't mentioned to me and from what I've heard, I would only choose it as a last resort - although I have to admit, the thought did cross my mind at one point!

I'm Sorry, I can't remember now.. I guess in a way, it has become almost insignificant. As soon as I found out there were no worrying causes, I accepted that I just had a bit too much fluid and that everything was ok. What I'm trying to say is, try not to let it overshadow your pregnancy. It is such a special time and it sounds as though your little baby is growing well! Lots of luck for Monday and please let me know if you have any other questions! X
